When I am having a video call I can't see the other person bu they can see me. it used to work before what could be the problem?

Hey!

Try updating the driver of the webcam. It's a common problem with programs that use webcams for video calls. Go to the manufacturer's website and go to the download section and look for the exact model so that you will get the correct drivers. Hope this helps :D

I have a build in camera on my laptop, but i guess is not configurated. How do i do that?

  • instructional steps
  • Select the "Camera Assistant Software" program located under the "Program Files" folder accessed by opening your computer "Start" menu.
  • 2 View the configuration options available for your built in webcam and microphone. In order to use the webcam you will need to use a video chat service such as Yahoo Instant Messenger, AOL IM, or Google Video Chat.
  • 3 Open your Instant Messaging (IM) program by double clicking the program icon on your computer desktop. If you do not have an instant messaging service, you can sign up for a service from Yahoo, AOL, or Google through the URLs included in the resource section of this article. For Yahoo and AOL, you can download and install IM software to use with your laptop webcam on your computer.
  • 4 Sign in to your IM service. Then, select the "My Webcam" icon on the application menu to enable video chat in the service. When the webcam is enabled, others will be able to see and here you when conducting a video chat session on your laptop.

I need step by step instructions on how to use the web cam on my aspire 5534 laptop

Webcam can be used for two purposes. 1. For making a video of your own. For this you have to use the webcam SW that is loaded in your laptop. Start the program and follow the instructions. 2. You can use it with you IM for video call. That means that the person you are talking to over the internet will be able to see you and you him if he too has a webcam on. How. In your IM open the Options and go to Video settings. Here specify this webcam as your default camera for video chats. Then you can even test it if it works. After that whenever you talk to someone on your IM. start video call and you both will be able to see each other. You can also start a conference call by addingmore people to your call.

    Slowness

To work around this issue, reduce the bandwidth requirements. To reduce the bandwidth requirements, set the camera to send reduced resolution video. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Close the video call.
    2. Click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft LifeCam, and then click Microsoft LifeCam.
    3. Click Open resolution settings.
    4. In the Video Resolution section, select a lower resolution.
    5. Close the Resolution settings window, and then try the video call again.
If you have to make more improvements, go to step 4, and then select a lower setting.

If lowering the resolution doesn’t resolve the problem, try these additional steps:
    • Close other programs that may be using the Internet, such as your browser.
    • Ask your Internet service provider (ISP) how to optimize the performance of the Internet connection.
    • Ask your IM contacts to also try the steps in the previous two bullets.

My webcam doesnt work with skype

Check you have the latest driver - faults likes this are usually patched until a new driver is issued
Access Device Manager from the Control Panel and expand the Imaging folder.
Right click on your webcam text and update driver - select internet when prompted.
If you have the latest driver - check the Creative website and Skype for any forums that show similar problems

No video with latest msn (have audio and webcam ok on local pc)

you do not need another driver version for your camera unless you upgraded from xp to vista ...if you only updated the MSN program and it works with other IM programs...it means that the problem is the MSN ...try to reinstall the program ...or to see if there are any settings you skipped...
