Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32HS420 32" TV
Overcurrent protection mode - this is usually a horizontal output failure, best bet is to check the flyback transformer, the horizontal transistor(s) and the tuning capacitors in their collector circuit as one or more may have dropped in value - giving rise to the protection. Either way it's a high voltage failure. I would recommend also checking the power supply - to be sure there are no shorts or blown components there as well.
Better to be safe than sorry. Repair could be expensive, but you won't know unless you submit the TV to a service centre (preferably authorised Sony agents) for a free quote, then you can decide after that if it's worth spending the dollars on.
