cold water solenoid failed
short fix if you are not using hot water tap is to change the inlet pipes around then select hot water for the wash
That will activate the hot water solenoid which is connected to the cold water tap and the washer fills with cold water
That will get you time to order in a new water control solenoid from the service agent spares or from e-bay
Hi Welcome to FixYa I am Kelly. You have debris inside your water inlet valve. You can try to clean it by doing the following:
- First remove both hoses from the water inlet valve and remove the inlet screens of the water valve.
(Use a knife blade on the outer part of the screens to remove them from the water valve)
- Connect both hoses to the water inlet valve without the inlet screens.
- Connect ONE hose to the wall faucet
- Place ONE hose in a bucket
SELECT WARM WASH and start wash fill
Water should flow into the washer and the bucket. Use the handle of a screwdriver and tap the hose connections of the inlet water valve for about 20 seconds. (your trying to free the debris from the inlet water valve diaphram)
Stop Fill
Reverse Hose connection at the wall.... i.e. hook up other hose and disconnect the one you had connected. Place the hose you disconnected from the wall into the bucket.
START warm fill
Water should flow into the washer and the bucket. Use the handle of a screwdriver and tap the hose connections of the inlet water valve for about 20 seconds. (your STILL trying to free the debris from the inlet water valve diaphrams)
STOP FILL
- Connect hose to wall connection
- WASH the inlet screens under slowly running water until both sides are clean
- Remove hoses from the water inlet valve and install the inlet screens.
- Reconnect hoses and turn on water supply
TEST HOT and COLD fill
Turn off machine.... IF the debris was freed the water flow will stop when the machine is turned off.
If this flushing attempt does not correct your constant water flow the remedy is to replace the water inlet valve on your washer.
I can help with locating parts ON-Line but will need your model number to help you should you require a water valve.
Hopefully you are able to clear the debris by doing the above. (50 - 50 chance of it working)
by memory it is located at the lop of unit, where u attach the inlet hoses 2 the machine. u need to remove inlet hoses first with water turned off, then undo 2 screws at back of washer holding plastic panel that covers water valves and electics. it unclips off, i always have trouble myself. once u have that panel off remove wires to hot valve ( that is the 1 that had the hot water hose attached to it) put your tester on the terminals. if u get a different continuity reading compared to your cold it is faulty. if it is the same your computer at the front of unit is faulty.see how u go but remember turn off the power b4 u work on it! dont want any acciedents. please reply back for more help. good luck!
if water is dripping into tour machine after it has finished your hot or cold inlet valve is faulty turn of each tap to valves one at a time to see which one is faulty when you find it replace it in the mean time turn both taps of when machine not in use hope this helps let me know how you went
washer may not be detecting water temp but water flow ..if you never use hot water may try hooking cold water to a Y-connector and then hooking to both hot and cold inlet valves ..however it is also possible washer is detecting inlet temps in which case you're out of luck ..i suspect the latter
Water inlet valve is not sealing off 100%. Replace inlet valve (the part where the hose attached to the machine). didn't find that exact model listed so couldn't give you a part number. Usually LG's have a separate valve for the cold and the hot. If you turn off one valve where hoses connect to household plumbing you should be able to figure out if it is the hot or cold. (most often it is the cold) Leave both valves off when not using washer until fixed. (note: usually on LG washers, if you have unit connected to power and the door closed, if it fills with water as your machine did, the water level switch will trip and automatically pump the water out, even if washer is not in use and the power is "off".)
Had the same problem. The water pump is not working and since it cant drain water it wont spin. A easy fix. There's a magnet located on the water pump thats comes lose. Simply tie it back into place.
