It does that because some components (especially the capacitors) have aged and they require a much bigger current to operate. When the current needs are greater than what the power source can deliver the protection systems kick in and shut down the tv; this resets everything and the tv is restarted.
All you need to do is to replace the aged parts and they will cost you less than $25, but for that you need at least basic experience in electronics. If you don't have it the ask a friend , it's a less than an hour job.
If you don't know anyone that can do it you will have to call a repair guy. Get the cheapest you can find.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I have a 56 inch rca rear projection tv and after two hours starts turning of and on for about half hour and then turns off. when we turn it back on it shuts off and comes on fast and then shuts off....

Those type of tv sets get unusually hot at times. Could be a heat issue. Power flow at night is the best. If it's still turning off then, it must be a dust or heat issue.

Tv will not turn on

always first unplug set and let sit 10 to 20 minutes to reset micro prossessor. if that don't help then you need to have an electronic technition determine if your problem is caused by high voltage devider or low voltage power supply. J.D.W.

Power light flashing/ no picture

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.
