If its a driver issue then ofcourse you can do it yourself. Open device manager. Start-> Run type in devmgmt.msc and under sound video and game controllers see if any of the devices have a yellow exclamatory mark next to them. Also let me know whats your OS(XP, Vista, Windows 7?) so that I can get you the driver.
