Hi,
Generally the problem is caused due video driver not loading correctly.
Once you are in safe mode , go to device manager
1. Disable the display adapter, sound drivers and network drivers and start the computer in normal mode.
2. If the computer starts in normal mode , enable one device at a time to check which one is causing a problem
3. unistall and reinstall that driver.

Thanks for using Fixya

For that you need to uninstall drivers or software which is installed previously and cause this issue. Driver or software confliction create this issue. So start computer in safe mode and uninstall driver or software which recently installed and this problem occurs. You can uninstall driver and software from start menu->control panel->add remove program. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

When in safe mode almost all drivers (the instructions the computer uses to operate a device) are disabled. To fix this, restart your computer and load windows normally.

Hi,

Windows XP Driver for Equium A60:

Windows 2000 Driver for Equium A60:

Generally all Toshiba drivers you will find on this website:

PS: You should use the Toshiba graphic drivers because these drivers are especially designed for notebook usage.

I need to reboot my toshiba equium l10-300 laptop with no cd

Try starting in safe mode. Hold down oth the control and F8 kays and press power. Do not release Contro & F8 until it starts to beep. Then it shoud start in safe mode. If the computer will not start in safe mode you have a hardware problem. If it starts in safe mode, you have a Windows problem that re-installing Windows will solve that (to a point). Without the Original CD and install code, you have two options. Buy a new OS or.......pirate it. I do not recommend the last.

Toshiba equium l20-197 booting

Chances are that it is a driver problem, try booting in safe mode by pressing f8 during the initial bot up process and selecting safe mode, with or without networking, if your systems goes in to windows then you have a drive issue, as safe mode loads with only the basic drivers needed to run windows, hope that helps

My equium ea60-155 needs to be reformated ; can i use xp install

Loading XP back on isn't the problem, it will be the chipset drivers that you will need for your onboard graphics, sound etc... before you format and load XP back onto your laptop contact Toshiba for the chipset drivers for your laptop.

If XP is causing you problems, why no repair the verison you already have on there? If you put the XP disk in when given the choice to press enter to install or 'R' for repair. Press R. It will replace any corrupted files to your system with new ones.

I hope this helps.

Hi manny, have you tried booting to safe mode? (when you see the toshiba logo, press F8 continously until you see the Advanced Boot Options, choose Safe mode or Enable VGA Mode then check if the problem still persist. If it doesn't, it's a possible video driver problem, maybe windows update changed it if you set windows automatically to download & install drivers for your computer. If that doesn't fix it, maybe one of your startup programs might be causing it, try running msconfig (start > run > msconfig) then disable all startup items on the startup tab & also on the services tab also (check "hide all microsoft service" first before clicking on disable all). Give me a feedback

Hope this helps.
