I have an Ace Aspire 5810tz laptop; windows vista. While it was running an update, I was tired and shut it off during the 3 0f 3 configutration. Now that is all it does. After startup, it goes to a blue screen with 3 0f 3 configuration-o complete and shuts down. It has been doing this since Mon. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have tried a hard boot; going to F8 and start mode; F8 and repair.

Hi follis_valpn,

If you are trying to install the Windows Update 937287, you will get this (configuring updates stage 3 of 3. 0% complete) message. If you are getting the message even after restarting the Computer, you may need to repair the Windows (using the installation Disc) or restore the Computer to an earlier date.

First you can try restarting the Computer in the Safe Mode and do the System Restore. To access the Safe Mode, please press and hold the F8 Key whlie restarting the Computer. Then, please click "Start", "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" and "System Restore". Then, please select a restore point (Date) when the Computer was working correctly. This should restore the Computer to the selected date and fix the issue.

The, alternative option is to use the Windows Installation Disc and perform the "Repair" option.

The issue will be fixed after you perform any of the above steps. To avoid the issue in future (whlie doing the Windows Update), please download and install the Windows Update 937287 from Microsoft Download Center separately.

Below is the link to obtain the Update.

Hope this helps..

Good Luck!

Goes off at various times every day

First thing I would say is check for viruses. If you are using Windows I would get Microsoft Security Essentials, update it, then run a scan.
Your other option is to check your Power Options and see if they are set to shut your computer off during periods of inactivity.
Another option, if using Windows, is to check your Windows Automatic Updates option. If it is set to Install Updates Automatically then it will restart or shutdown the computer to apply updates.

Everytime I do a windows update, it either crashes or hangs on "shutting down" (after leaving it on all night!). Then I lose everything. Help!

you have to be more spacific on what you are doing and what os you are using. Are you using Windows 7 or Vista. If you are using vista, Dont. upgrade to windows 7, it's worth it. but everything else aside, try different ways of installing the updates. you can download the updates manually and install them other then just letting automatic updates do everything.

We have an Acer Aspire 5810TZ. It will not run unless the AC is plugged in. It shows 95% battery but not charging.

Um, no... I am seeing the exact same issue and my battery is not dead. System says it is 100% charged and the system was just running on battery for 2 hours the previous day now suddenly mine will not run on battery at all. I am starting to smell a product defect issue here but can't get anyone to talk to me about it at that level.

I have the Aspire 5810TZ-4761 laptop. Black Screen Won't boot up

Does the dvd drive have a little hole that you can push a paperclip or some other thin itam like a needle in.
This is used to eject the drive manually.
you could also try removing and re fitting the dvd drive, this is usually held in with just 1 screw
