PRESSURE WILL NOT BUILD, SEEMS TO RUN FINE (ABOUT 10YRS OLD). COULD IT BE THE INTAKE VALVE?

You're probably right, do you bleed the tank pressure after every use? This helps with the longevity. Could be leak in system, crack in head (these would be audible after cycle or turn off). Piston rings/seals- looks like an oilless unit- normal wear...

Why wont my steelcraft 13 gallon 5hp model ta25 build up no more then 20 pound of pressure and all i did was change the oil?


Check all connections for air leak including the water drain valve with soapy water. If no air leaking from connections, spray soapy water on head area where head attaches to the cylinder checking for gasket leaks. If no leaks are found, most likely problem is in the head /valves /internal gasket leak. If head gasket or valves are leaking, you will notice that air seems to blow out of the intake filter (normally there is good suction at the intake). Good luck

The air pressure won't go above 40psi on my Husky Y1010. Read suggestions it might be a broken reed valve. How do I fix that?

Here are a few things to check, you may have already checked some of these.

Electricity...Compressors will run best with full 115Vot 15AMP/Or 220V electrical supply from a circuit, over the shortest electrical cord as possible.

Air Leaks..Place your ear close to the compressor and listen for air leaking, if you hear air that is not normal and means you have to locate and repair whatever it is that is leaking.
Check the air unloader valve... The air unloader valve will blown out air when you turned off the compressor, that is normal.
But it should not have air leaking out of it all of the time. If so then it is faulty and in need of repair/replacement.

Valves...If either the intake or exaust valves fail, breaks, or fails to seat, then your compressor will run 24 hours a day and never build up to the correct pressure for shut-off.

Gaskets...Check to see if your gaskets have failed.
You could have a gasket failure between the pistons and you will never know it because it shows no external air leak.
If this situation happens then the air will only cycle between cylinders and never build up the correct air pressure.
One way to check the gasket is remove the air filter, then put your hand over the intake.
If correct then it will suck you hand against the intake.
If the valve or valves have failed then you will feel the air sucking in and blowing out.

Piston Rings and Cylinder...The piston rings could be stuck,broken, or worn and not allowing the correct pressure to build up in your tank.
A worn cylinder will also contribute to the problem of pressure build-up.
Pressure Switch...Check for air leaks at the pressure switch, it has a rubber diaphram that can fail and leak air out of the system.

Pump is not shutting off, and pressure not building up

1994 Chevrolet Lumina 3.1 will not start - after starting with ether runs fine.... 1994 Lumina 3.1 will not start - cranks but won't start. While cranking shoot ether into intake - starts...


Had friend put OBD diagnostics to it and error code indicated fuel pump ????? No code indicates replacing any part . Indicates testing ! pressure and flow testing , voltage drop testing the electrical circuit etc... There is a check valve in the fuel pump assembly that is suppose to keep pressure in the fuel lines an fuel rail . When the check valve goes bad allows fuel to drain back into the tank. Try turn the key on an off a few times to build up pressure . The PCM energizes the fuel pump relay for two seconds at key on .

Change radiator and coolant is overflowing in overflow bottle. now have radiator with bigger core but using same cap


when a vehicle gets to around 10yrs old or a high mileage the head gasket starts to fail unlike the old copper ones so seek advice from a garage who will put a pressure tester on the rad and run engine then check for a build up of excessive pressure which is a sign of a head gasket fatigue

Yes that is what is wrong the intake manifold is plugged with carbon restricting EGR flow you need to clean out the ports to correct the problem if you run the car to long you will burn the DPFE ( the EGR pressure sensor ) out agian

Chicago forge horizontal air compressor will not build


Here are some simple tests that will help solve your problem. Check for leaks with soapy water on all the joints and the drain valve. With compressor running and it has reached all the pressure it can muster, remove the air filter and place your finger over the intake port, you should feel good suction and the compressor should speed-up if pump is working and pressure is leaking out. If you feel good suction then pressure could be leaking past cylinder/ring if it is oilless. Check upper part of cylinder for scratches or torn vinyl ring. If you do not feel suction, but rather air blowing out of intake then you may have bad reed vales or torn gasket in head. Another simple test is to run compressor for a few minutes and disconnect power then listen for air leaks at the pressure switch unloader valve. If leaking replace the in-tank check valve (brass valve). Follow the discharge airline to the tank, there you will find the checkvalve. Good Luck and email if you have questions.
