Have you considered NOT connecting the camear to the computer?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

Blame Windows updates. You can now start using a separate card reader instead of the camera for downloads.

No matter which computer I put my digital camera attachment to download pictures, it will not download pictures at all. It keeps telling me there is nothing attached (camera or scanner) to get pictures...

Since that you already used different computer still its not detecting the camera It means the problem is either On the USB cable itself or on the camera USB slot. Because windows XP vista or Windows 7 has a generic driver for all the camera it should detect all the camera thats been inserted on the CPU.

try to used different USB cable and make sure the USB cable is MODEL U-8 thats the right cable for your camera

Keep getting cannot detect camera on my ixus 80is

This question comes up several times a day here in the camera section at Fixya. But please note, it's very hard to troubleshoot individual software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Please don't take this as a sales pitch as it's not, but please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of an inexpensive card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

I had the same problem, and after some time I remembered that my camera had been for a long time without batteries. When I tried to get new pictures, it asked me to set date/time. After that, I was able to download the pictures again.

Hello

If your camera can be detected by windows with out any driver installation required. once you connected the camera the system detect it and then create drive found in my computer. by browsing the "my computer you simply copy the pictures stored in the camera to any folder you wanted in the PC.

But anyway you can try the model 3615 maybe it work in your camera. find it here: http://www.vivitar.com/en-us/Support.aspx
