My GSS251FPD has stopped dispensing water through the door. It still makes and dispenses ice.

Where would you expect me to hear a sound when trying to dispense water? I suspect it is at some place in the door. However, I can't say I've EVER heard a noise when it dispensed water.

    Thanks for working with me

Like happened once before, it started working! The line had not been used for weeks in each instance this occured. Thank you for your input.

Strange, does it make any noise when it attempts to dispense the water? Like it's trying to dispense but nothing comes out? Sounds like the motor for the water dispenser may have failed. Let me know!

Thanks
Tim

No problem at all, usually you can hear a little motor that is there that actually pumps the water through the door and out the dispenser.

It is probably this solenoid that has failed, # 36 on this chart here...

    http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partse...

The only other possibilities would be that the water line has been disconnected somehow, but it should be the same water line for the ice, so as long as that is still being made I would think this is not the case, but double check.

The last possibility is the water line somehow has frozen. You can try to defrost the whole unit before ordering any parts or calling for service... that's what I would do. To do this empty your whole fridge and freezer into a cooler or other fridge (if you have one). Unplug this fridge for at least 6 / 7 hours something like that until all possible ice buildup in the system can dissipate.

Otherwise it would have to be that solenoid I would believe.

Ice maker works but no water out of water dispenser?

Hi
You have not supplied the make or model of your fridge and so I can only offer a generic response.
Most ice-makers, chilled water dispensers are reliant upon a water stop valve that make a distinctive click when operated.
Does it click when you dispense water?
If not, then assuming the ice dispenser works (indicating the activate button is working), then the water valve has possibly failed (or less likely the wiring somewhere in between).

GE GSH25JFRF BB ice maker doesn't dispense. Water dispenses and ice maker makes ice but won't come out.

There should be a plastice hinge cover on the left top hinge on freezer door. Take it off and press the plug together firmly. Try that and let me know, Sea Breeze

Ice dispenser stuck on

Either the paddle for the ice/water dispenser is stuck or you have a bad microswitch behind the dispenser.
To stop the ice/water from dispensing open the freezer door and press or hold the child lock button down. Once the unit is in child lock mode you can shut the door without energizing the dispenser.
Another option is to remove the upper freezer door hinge cover and disconnect the wire connector up there. This will remove voltage from the dispenser as well. Then either replace the paddle or switch. Sometimes the paddles/switches will get stuck because of splash up from ice dropping in sugary drinks.

Water dispenser works, ice maker makes ice but doe not dispense

Remove the ice bucket/container from inside the freezer compartment. Examine underneath at the front of the container to see if ice cubes are lodged between the metal blades. If cubes are caught in this area, they will prevent ice from dropping into the glass/cup.

GSH25KGRWW dispenses ice/water all by itself! Heard noise last night, and refrigerator was dispensing ice all over the floor!! Attempted to stop by tapping the lever, but this had no effect; pushed water...

as you explained that by opening the freezer door the problem stopped the problem is: that you have a pinched dispenser wire or, two in the area between the door and, the door opening
these wires are low voltage so they are not going to cause a fire
but, if they touch the cabinet due to a bare wire they will ground and, start running the dispenser.
the door cover needs to be removed and, the problem (usually at the door hinge must be found and, corrected i.e. wire taped, shielded etc.

Water dispenser on front of refrigerator door does not dispense water. Ice Cube maker continues to make ice cubes. Defrosting doesn't fix problem.

Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.

Internal water dispenser stopped working

I lowered the temp on the freezer to 4 overnight, by morning water dispenser is working fine. I think that when we changed the temp to 7 (in order to make more ice ) it froze the water pipe going to the dispenser. I am going to keep both fridge and freezer at 5 ,and hope this will not happen again.

Kenmore Refrigerator stopped dispensing water

Either your water tank in the fridge froze up, the waterline that goes up the freezer door from the bottom hinge froze, or the switch that your glass hits is damaged. Do you hear any humming or noises when you put your glass up to get water?
