If you get water or anything on them they are gone. your best bet is to take it to a comptuer store and let them see if they can help. i dont know if you every have taken a key board a part, but i can tell you that its harder then you would think to put it back togther.

disconnect the battery from the laptop and only hook up the ac adaptor. Turn the laptop on and if it still cuts off after 5 seconds then reseat the memory back into its slots. Also make sure your air vents are not clogged with dirt or dust as lack or air flow can cause the laptop to shut off. If that doesn't do it then take out the hard drive and dvd drive and turn on the laptop. If the laptop still cuts off then it has to be a faulty motherboard at that point which means to much voltage is going thru and the components on the motherboard are not regulating it properly.

Try removing the power supply (from the wall) and the battery pack. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Plug the mains power (from the wall) back in and then press the power button. It should work. Then you can replace your battery pack. Don't know why it works but it has worked for me in the past. Good luck!

Testimonial: "thanks, yes it was on disable."
SOURCE: I accidently spilt some liquid
This is a risky solution but worked for me.With the batteries removed turn the key board face down. get a spray bottle filled with warm water. Now you are practically going to wash the keyboard.Spray the affected area with the warm water spray, allowing the water to drip down as you spray.Satisfied with the cleaning let the key board to dry but still in the face down position.Allow ample time and warmth to dry. Fix your batteries and test.
