Question about InFocus LP640 Projector Multimedia Projector
If you have replaced the lamp, you may have pushed the part that the lamp plugs into out of place. It may appear to be connected, but it may not be. You will have to remove the top cover so the lamp housing is visible and look to see if the connection is secure. If not you can hold the lamp connection in place and plug the lamp in. You also should check to make sure the actuator on the lamp door is making full contact with the safety switch under the lamp door. You can check this by pushing the safety switch in with something non conductive (the door needs to be off to do this.) and holding the switch in and powering the unit up. If it does power up then that means the lamp door has been distorted by the heat from the lamp and will need to be replaced or rigged to where the actuator pushes the safety in all the way. If neither of these are the problem and if you haven't reset the filter and lamp hours, the I would say your power supply is bad.

i actually own this tv myself... that striking you here will only occur when the lamp does not fire. as far as lamp life i have found that mitsubishi has the longest lasting bulbs from my experience. i would check to make sure the connector on the lamp is seated properly into the other connector in the tv. if you know your lamp is 100% i would look at replacing the lamp ballast. ive had this tv for a few yrs now and love it.
