Did you replace the wiring on the start switch just like the old one?
Try reversing the wires to the start switch you replaced, sometimes that causes the problem you described.

I think there is a Relay that is bad, the start switch is activating that relay, but that relay fails to stay on the way it should. Find that relay and check it and the wiring connections.

When I the start the GE dryer it will not start unless I will Hold it to On position. when I release it it will other words it will not hold to Run position

you could have a bad motor. the motor has an internal switch that is stuck in the start position and not switching to run. replace the motor.

When you push the start button, the dryer turns on, but shuts off when you let go of the button. Dryer does not stay on, When you continuously hold the button in the "on " position, the dryer operates...

There is a switch on the motor that is active when the motor gets to speed. Either the switch is bad or the motor is not getting up to proper speed.

Frigidaire dryer feq221cas2 the startswitch will not stay on

The switch is bad and need to be replaced. Holding the switch in the on position may cause it to burn, thus causing a fire so please do not hold it in manually.

Asko Dryer stops running when you release the start button.

Hi, this is a simple issue here. these switches will fail from time to time. the start switch is unable to hold the circuit, in return, opening it upon release of the button.

Simply replacing the switch will fix this issue. switch is 20 dollars tops.

Dryer not working

the button you push is a momentary start switch.whats suppose to happen is the power passes thru the push to start switch for a moment till the motor centrifugal switch goes to the run winding.what i have found happening is a lint buildup in the motor switch area dose not allow the motor centrifugal switch to reset to the start winding when the dryer has finished the last its trying too start on the run winding and it could only do that if you helped by spinning the drum while hold the start switch.soooooo.... unplug unit .get to the motor and vacuum it out.inspect your wiring for burnt/loose connections.if all is well and vacuuming did not solve problem.your motor may have an open start winding which you could check with an ohm meter.if you need any more help you can make an request thru fixya email. God bless ,tom

Neptune Dryer Time keeps going forever

your problem is most likely an issue with the start button. if it is stuck, the dryer will keep running even though it has passed the off position. your start switch probably needs replaced. Joe

Kenmore 73954 : Only runs when the START button is continuously pressed

The start button starts the motor heater and energizes a relay that latches closed to keep the motor and heater running untill the timer switch or door switch cut the power to the relay and the relay opens.
The latching relay has failed or disconnected
if all the cables are attached to the relay
replace relay
not an expensive item, usualoly good for 10years
dryer circuits look like this, the start switch and relay are drawn just to the right of the motor, this diagram has no relevance to the physical position of the parts
