If you're getting no video and no sound, then that's probably an issue with the HANA chip within the PS2 assembly. Unfortunately, it's much more cost effective to replace the unit rather than trying to get the device repaired.
Hope this helps!
Hi
First I know this sounds silly but try turning your TV off then back on again with the PS2 connected.
If that doesn't work try this
first go to your tv settings then go to video/visual/ and then change PAL to NTSC OR NTSC to PAL OR select AUTO
And if that doesnt work, the final solution is to find the switch that is on your AV cable that connects your PS2 to your TV, switch it from Video to Game (I think) Hope one of these solutions work Thanks
for a slimline PS2
try cleaning the laser lens.
get a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol (not dripping).
gently touch the Q-tip to the laser lens and gently twirl the Q-tip.
use the other end of the Q-tip to dry the lens, again twirl it.
for a fat PS2, you can use a laser lens cleaner for video game systems and go here and go to the very end. www.powerfulguides.com/ps2 hope this helps :D
The ps2 has a sound threshold, which it cannot surpass. Do you hear any volume at all? If you hear NO volume, verify that your audio visual cable is properly seated in both the TV and the console. If you hear some volume, and its just really quiet, try a different TV.
Hi loonyhouse ! It sounds pretty odd. You should take the ps2 apart, and harden any flat cable or cable connection in the ps2. It sounds like a looose connection, or a loose screw creating a short in it ? It's just a physical problem most likely. Take it apart, i'm sure you'll find it.. it NEEDS to be obvious :) Thanks, cheebster.
