    where is the button

  • drakejoann Oct 06, 2010

Could you please tell me where the "fn" button is on the keyboard? I tried the "Alt, H, detect and repair" process. That did not help.

    Thank you.

I do not have a laptop. It is a Dell Desktop, but the keyboard is a Logitech S 510. I do not see an fn button on the keyboard.

    Thanks.

Since this problem started, I switched out the wireless keyboard and replaced it with the original "wired" Dell keyboard that came with the PC. It works perfectly fine.

    Hello,

if the above doesn't solve the problem, go to Microsoft word, and open it.

Go to help, by pressing "Alt" "H", scroll to "Detect and Repair....". Allow the program run completely and try again.

This should help to reset the keyboard typing format.

Let me know what happens next.

    Take care.

Okay, please do me one favor, by borrowing a keyboard and testing it with your computer and let's see if it does the same.

I look forward to your reply.

    Bye for now.

When typing on my hp laptop my keyboard skips letters

The letters that are left out, are they constantly being left out? Push each letter while in notepad and check to see which letter/s are not working.

It is likely that your keyboard is worn and needs replacing. See a computer technician or claim warranty support.

Take care!

Asus netbook type letters it put numbers

This issue is due to you having activated the "Number Lock" function of your keyboard !

To revert to full keybaord function:

Press Fn+NumLock. The numLock shares it's key with Insert

Note: Fn key is the Blue Key at the base left of the Keyboard.

your question has two typing mistakes - maybe you can type your password carefully. Another reason may be that you have the Caps Lock key on (always capital letters) that will cause the password not to be accepted. Same for Numbers Lock I think it is a key top left of the keyboard the light should be off. good luck.

What is the work of insert key of keyboard.

The insert key is used to toggle between overtype mode and insert mode while typing.

In overtype mode, any letters typed will replace those infront of the cursor.
In insert mode, any letters typed will be inserted where the cursor is. (Useful for if you miss a letter or word out)

Dell inspiron 1501 laptop keyboard is typing odd numbers and symbols instead of some of the lettters. Examples, the letter "l" comes out "3" . Other letters come out as a back slash, etc. A plug in USB...

Is the Num Lock light lit? This light is the one all the way to the left of several on the computer to the left of the power button (it looks like a padlock with a 9 in the center). The integrated number pad is probably active. Press to toggle this feature off. The Num Lk key is to the right of the various function keys but to the left of the keys labeled Insert and Delete.

I hope this helps.

What does the insert key do?

Press and the text you type will over write what ever you have on the screen. This is typically used in most applications to "type over" existing text without moving the other letters/numbers/characters around.

This is my example of how the insert key works.
hit the insert key and position your cursor at the "w" in works.
Now type WOW!!.
You should now have:
This is my example of how the insert key WOW!!.

Clever these programmers. :)

Keep in mind it depends on the application you are running also.
Have fun!

Typing skips letters at random nocerain etter is mssed just agriv

Attach an external keyboard and see if your problem goes away. If it does, then you have a defective keyboard on your laptop. You should have a professional install the keyboard so as to not rip or damage and connector cables, these typically are made of mylar and rip easily.
Either that or save yourself the cost of buying a new keyboard from HP and paying for someone to install it and just use an external keyboard.
You should check your warranty or call HP and see if there was a recall or something that could possibly pay for the fix for you.
