Question about Maytag Washing Machines
Check first whether the noise is coming from the motor assembly or not. The rotor may scrape the stator and create such noise. Remove the rotor then spin the drum and check the noise. Also check the rotor and the stator for any sign of scraping.
The noise is coming from the worn tub bearing if the noise is not altered by the removal of the rotor. The bad news is that the bearing comes as an assembly with the tub including the drive shaft. This requires the replacement of the complete tub assembly, a bit expensive repair.

The spin bearing. That is making the noise.the bearing is part of the rear outer tub housing and entire machine must be torn down in order to replace it; tub assembly is very heavy and is suspended by springs and shocks, besides that if it is reassembled improperly it will leak and then you would have to repeat the tear down again. But if tub bearing checked ok then is motor baring that is faulty.
Try running the motor with the belt off the washer. Then see if still the noise then its motor spin bearing that is faulty.
he spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle.Replace the faulty. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this
