Question about Televison & Video
There are several possibilities that come to my mind about this problem.
Firstly, most problems come down to power, or rather a lack of - because of a component breakdown.
1]...It may sound obvious, but there could be a problem with the unit's internal power supply module that regulates the supply to the HT (High Tension) side of the circuit; It could be
d]...Or, but unlikely, a fuse.
this is the part of the main board that contains the line output transistors, line output transformer (LOPT) etc, & supplies the extremely high voltage (typically thousands of volts) to the crt (Cathode Ray Tube).
2]...It could be the line output transistor, or another component - such as a safety resistor - in the line out stage.
The line output transistor would be located on the heatsink, very close to the LOPT.
3]...It could also be the line output transformer;
a]...My first check for this would be for dry solder joints on the LOPT, on the underside of the main board.
I must stress, as a retired tv engineer myself, there are very dangerous voltages inside television sets, & I talk from experience - I've had some nasty shocks in my time, & it only takes a few milliamps of current to kill you, if it goes through your chest (Up one arm & down the other).
Even after a tv has been unplugged from the power socket, on the wall, it can contain dangerously high & possibly fatal voltages.
So please, DO NOT attempt this repair yourself, unless you are qualified to do so; either ask someone who you know, who is qualified, or take it to the tv repair shop.
I hope this has been of help to you.
