Question about ASUS M4A785M (890552666775) Motherboard

Open Question

Bought a new ASUS M4A785-M motherboard. Running Windows Vista updated the drivers from the ASUS website, the VIA HD Audio website and checked the BIOS to enable the audio to the AC97 setting. What the problem is is that the audio jacks don't seem to want to respond to the speakers. I've checked my speakers and headphones to make sure they are working properly. When I play music or a movie it shows that sound is working yet nothing comes out. I've check both the front and back panel and no the devices are not muted.

SOURCE: I have no audio

did you do the drivers? does the sound blaster have the drivers?if the onboard failed the add on should work, if it's not broken. make sure you have the right driver. you can download them on creative labs website, or asus website for that board, but disable the onboard if you use the add in sound blaster. this should work, if you had sound before, also make sure no conflicts with sound devices. hope thi helps happy new year..

Go to devise mgr and look at the sound hardware under sound, rt click on realtek and click on properties, look at driver, does it say windows or realtek, and check version and date, then go to realtek
and see if the driver is the newest and the right one for your hardware.

That was great that you listed some info, but the wrong info,ex for OS, you should have listed the motherboard model #, you should post back the model# and what it said under driver, version, date of driver. Then someone can check to see if the correct driver is installed.

How to run windows 7 with ah3450 grafic card on kod p4x266 motherboard?

The MSI PM8m-V Motherboard has the Via P4M800 and Via VT8237 chipsets.

The website for MSI Does not list any drivers for Windows 7 for your motherboard. But since this is a common Via chipset you should be in luck.

A lot of driver support for VIA chips is built into Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32- and 64-bit).

VIA Hyperion Pro drivers

The VIA Hyperion Pro drivers contain all of the main platform drivers for VIA chipsets. The current release of these drivers is included in Windows 7, so at this time there is no need for a VIA Hyperion Pro package that supports Windows 7. However, as updates occur, a package will be released when needed.

You shouldn't need them, but to download the VIA Hyperion PRO Drivers click on the following link:
http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/VIA_HyperionPro_V524A.zip

The drivers for your video card the ASUS AH3450/HTP/256M Radeon HD 3450 AGP Card can be found here:
http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/AGP_A_series/AH3450DI512MD2LP/#download

If you still need further drivers for this motherboard you can go to here:
http://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jsp

If you still have not found the drivers you need you can go to the MSI website and see if any of the Vista drivers will work for your system.

Vista business + asus p5pe-vm -audio

You may want to contact ASUS by email and ask them if they have a audio driver for VISTA Buisness.
Check your device manager and see if you have any flags.
You may need to un-install the current driver and re-install it.
Also, you may want to check microsofts updates and see if they find a audio driver.
Go to their website and check for updates, review the updates and tag or untag whatever you wish.
The last optium is to visit Driversguide.com and search for your audio driver.
Good luck

2 Asus motherboards with no sound

There's only really two things you can try.

One, check first into the BIOS and make sure that the integrated sound is enabled.

Next, check to see if your video card, if it is PCI express, because it sometimes has their own sound.

If you have done these two things, then perform an ASUS update to the BIOS. Perhaps the BIOS is flaky.

If this doesn't work and you have checked everything else, then you'll need to contact ASUS directly about the motherboard issue.

I would try the realtek audio driver instead. there are two different audio drivers for that board. Here is the link:

select the socket 775 then look for the p5kpl board then look in the audio section and select the realtek driver
