I press the power button, nothing happens. I tested the cords, unplug & replug them still nothing

Have you disconnected the power suppoly from the Wii and let it sit at least five minutes? Nintendo recommends unpluggin and letting the console sit for 90 seconds but I have had to let it sit a lot longer.

    Thank you, Bob

Disconnect the power supply from the wii and the wall and let it sit for at least 5 minutes. It needs to reset.

Had a storm last night and had the same issue. Wii was in standby mode and we took some power interuptions. I thought the Wii was dead. I unplugged it from the wall and also disconnected the power cord from the machine. I tested the AC adapter and was still getting 12 volts out so the problem lay in the Wii console. After five or 10 minutes the machine dissipated the electricity held in the console and when plugged back in the light came on and it seemed to work fine. This is the same problem we have at work with the computers. All power must be disconnected so the machine will be able to reset itself.

Sorted now thanks the storm blew the fuse in the power brick plug but hubby replaced it and now its fine. i will say this though nintendo were most helpfull on the phone and stated that if i need to send it back thay would pay the postage both ways and if i needed a new console it would be a new and sealed one not a refurb so there is hope for those of you who need a replacement all i did was ring customer services 08706060247 and they said they would send out the prepayment label as a precaution if the chage of fuse didnt help. try this if you still have no joy with the power. im ok now and the kids are happy but good luck to all who still need help
lol xx :)

We just tried to start our wii and it want turn on. Any Ideas as to what we should try? We did hit the reset button and nothing happened. My son went to his house about 3 miles away and found his to be...

Odds are there was a power grid surge (especially given the fact that your son's is dead as well. Typically replacing the Ac adapter (power cord) will fix the problem, the ac adapter is designed to take the blow in the event of a power surge.

Want to play again and turn on wii Console no picture, why

You need to unplug the AC adapter from the wall outlet for 5 or 10 minutes (NOT from the Wii, you have to unplug it from the wall outlet). Considering how often I see this problem, I'm amazed Nintendo didn't address it in their FAQ on the Wii.

This is a common problem with the Wii. As I said, I'm very surprised Nintnedo didn't cover this in the owners manual FAQ, considering it happens almost every time there is a power surge or the power goes out, etc.

Even if it's hooked up to a surge protector, this happens. Power comes back on, but the Wii appears dead. It won't turn on, and the LED indicators won't light. If there was a power surge, or the power went out,etc...anything, this will happen. The problem is with the AC adapter, not the Wii itself.

You need to reset the AC adapter to get the Wii to work again. There is a circuit inside the AC adapter that needs to be reset. Unplug the AC adapter from the wall/surge protector outlet. Don't unlpug it from the Wii, it has to be at the outlet. You have to kill power to the adapter.

Unlpug it from the wall/surge protector outlet, and leave it unplugged for 5 or 10minutes. This will kill power to the AC adapter, and give the circuit time to reset. When you plug the adapter back into the outlet after 10 minutes, the red led on the front should be lit up.

Nintendo wii not switching off

to turn the wii off with the power button you have to hold it in a few seconds, this can be confusing leading people to think there is a problem, however it is designed to go into a stand-by mode if you just push the button, if you hold it in...i think 5 second or so it will power off
this is using the button on the wii itself not the power button on the controllers
