Base from the description of your problem the issue here can be with the motherboard or the RAM of the computer.

Since you already replace the hard drive what I will ask you to do here is to take the RAM out and use a eraser to clean the golden teeth of your RAM then put it back in and power on the computer and check if it will be fine now.

Also can you tell us if here any beep sound when you power it on that will help us in troubleshooting the problem.

What might be the cause of hp pavillion dv2000 not displaying on the screen at start up and giving 3 beeps, 1 long and 2 short, sometimes it boot but doesn't get to the desktop area?

1 long beep followed by two short beeps is usually indicative of a failed/failing display adapter. On something as.... rustic as your dv2000 it can be fixed.... but probably would see better value from just replacing the unit.

Hp pavilion dv2000 lights switch on but boot or

Hi

Thank you for your query

Please try the folowing

1) Remove ALL wires and then press and hold the power button in for approx 20 seconds

2) Plug everything back in and then rerty

This may sort the issue out however from what you are descrbing, if there is no boot or display it is highly likely the motherboard and/or the CPU is faulty

I would recommend that you book the PC into a reputable PC repair shop if the above does not work

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

Got a HP DV2000 boot then freezes

Hi,
It seems that the problem is with the display chipset ( assuming its with Nvidia chipset model).
If you are not a technical person, take out the mother board and do a reflow of the chipset with a blower or else take it to a qualified service person or authorised service center.

The Laptop Powerup no display in dv2000

Since you can view the laptop's output through VGA, it indicates that the issue lies with the laptop's LCD. As u mentioned, firstly the LCD become dull, and now it completely dead, suggest that the internal flat ribbon cables that connect the LCD to the motherboard of your laptop may have been damaged. This could happen sometimes after extensive use. Please get it checked with authourised technician. Do not experiemnt further, as this could make the situation worse. Cheers..

Hp pavillion dv2000 laptop display problems

There is a known problem with the video card in this machine, certain models are covered by an extended HP warranty.  Symptoms are overheating and finally not starting at all.

The system cannot cope up the installed programs in your laptop. When you boot in safe mode try uninstalling new installed software or unneeded software then restart your laptop and try again booting normally.. TY

Dv2000 wont boot

Well send it in for warranty and then sell it - It sounds like a flaky motherboard to me by the symptoms - Generally speaking if you dont even get a beep without any RAM installed then the motherboard is probably bad.
