The problem is not with your speakers, it is in your sound card or device drivers. In control panel, double click on system. Then single click on hardware/device manager , down the list click on the + next to sound, video and game controllers. If you have an aftermarket sound card, look for it in the list. Right click on the device, and then "update driver".

Additional possibility ? Are you plugged into the (line out) jack? Heiroglyphics behind your computer, hiding beneath all your cables and such, can be confusing in a low light situation. ((

No audio device implies that you do not have a driver installed for your soundcard/on-board sound. To verify this click start->Run and type in devmgmt.msc and hit enter. When the device manager opens click the + sign next to sound video and game controllers and see if there are yellow exclamatory marks next to any of the devices . Post back with what you found so that I can verify if its indeed a driver problem and then get you the driver.

I just re-assemble my computer and speakers and my speakers is not working now. I am not sure if I have left a plug out. Should something be plugged into the 'Audio In" slot?

Audio in is an auxillary imput. Your speakers should be plugged into audio out. Check the power supply to your speakers. Enter Control Panel > System> and Device manager and make sure your audio drivers are working. Also enter Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices and check the box that says "Place volume icon in the taskbar then open the volume control and make sure none of them are muted and that your volume levels are high. You can then click on the sounds tab and choose one of the sounds and hit the test button to check your speakers. Hope this helps. If all else fails check your speakers on someone else's computer.

Speakrs don't work on new HP Pavilion desktop.

If you're using Windows XP, go to the Control Panel, then double-click on Sound, then go to the Audio tab and make sure the playback device is set to your Realtek output.

If you're using Windows Vista, go to Control Panel and click on Hardware and Sound, then click on Sound. Make sure your Realtek device is selected with a green check mark. If it isn't, just click on it and then click the Set as Default button down below. Vista sound configuration is kinda quirky, and it does do some kind of detection when you plug a cable into an audio jack, so you might leave this screen up while you plug your speakers into the green audio jack in the sound card and see if it pops anything weird up.
