SOURCE: Weller WMRP soldering iron faling prematurely.

I suggest that you set the "Auto Time Off" much longer or turn it off by setting it to 0, and use a standby of 400 degrees after 10 minutes instead.

The reason is that every time this soldering iron has to turn on, it's trying to heat up in about 5-10 seconds. When it does that, it applies full wattage to the heating element, and putting full wattage on them a lot of times is what's burning them out. If the soldering iron maintains the same temperature while not soldering, it only uses 20-30% of the full wattage to keep it at the set temp. This isn't nearly as hard on the heating element.

The circuit board where the battery plugs in not making a good connection and gps wont come, the wiring from car lighter to gps is good , canyou solder wiring to power circuit board.

Hi, yes it's possible you need a soldering iron and 60/40 rosin core solder, remember that soldering iron can make serious burns so be careful, and always work with the device disconnected from any power source.

Charger will not work some of the time (i think the connector may be loose) and there is a aerosol-ish smell coming from inside

I have had this problem with quite a few chargers there is a capacitor inside the charger hooked with the positive wires.

chances are that you need to replace the capacitor or just buy a new charger.

capacitors are cheap but you will need also a soldering iron and solder.
videos will help on techniques.

Conexant is an audio chipset manufacturer, for one. You are looking at a Conexant audio chipset.

An SMD (Surface Mount Device), that uses an S.O.I.C. type of mounting,

Replace it?

Better have;
1) Good magnification
2) Steady hand
3) Excellent soldering/de-soldering skills.
4) Access to another new chipset.
5) Soldering station, or 25 Watt soldering iron with No.2 chisel tip, and Rosin core .032 solder, rosin flux paste, damp cleaning sponge, Desoldering Braid, (Solder Wick), and small flux brush.

You need to be Q-U-I-C-K, so you do NOT burn the motherboard, and yet good enough when soldering the new one in, that you make clean good solder joints.
No prob, right?

PQ1 and PQ2?
Talking about the Power MOSFET's?

May be more advantageous to just buy another mobo,

What's your problem?flash is not working

There is a button on the side, that turns the thing on and off.
The display would have a circle with a lightning bolt through it, its red,
indicating that it is SET to not flash. This is pretty much the only setting, except for when there is plenty of light when in auto mode, that it won't flash. I keep my flash off most of the time.

Check your manual for operating instructions.

The only other problems would be a burned out bulb, or a bad solder connection.
You could have somebody service it, because taking this thing apart is tricky and a delicate procedure. I have done it. The bulb might be discolored, indicating its burned out. You could tell this without dissassembly first.

Other things to look for when open are bad solder joints on a capacitor, or the bulb. Is there a ready light for the flash?
You could get lucky and find the problem is a bad solder connection, and no bad parts. Get someone with adequate experience to do the soldering if you can't.
I looks easy, but this is a place where experience is very necessary.
A quick and accurate touch is essential here.

If you're bold enough, or you have experience, and a soldering iron, give it a try,
but be ready to accept it as dead, cause you could screw it up worse yourself.
you will need a special screwdriver for a couple of the screws too. you could try to find something that will do the job, but be careful you don't make it impossible to turn with the wrong tool.

Make sure the thing is ok by resetting it to rule out the drastic measures, first.

GE GTS20ICNCC Refrigerator light bulb burns out quickly

Use the correct wattage bulbs. If they fail often then you may need to get it checked by an electrician.
Filament bulbs easily burn out. What you can do is to buy cheap bulbs and replace as soon as they burn. This is the problem which is why tube lights and LEDs were invented!

Center dash lights out.

Like stated above there are 3 small bulbs soldered onto the cuircut board. To replace yourself you must remove the radio bezel above and the shift bezel, these just snap into place though be carefull and always try to pull evenly to avoid breaking any tabs. The whole heater panel then can be pulled off. Unclip all the wiring harnesses, then unscrew the heater control itself from the panel. Remove the back of the heater unit to access the cuircut board. Remove the burnt bulbs by the base, slowly wiggling the base until they snap off. Go to radio shack and buy bulb #272-1141 (mini lamp 12Volts, 25mA). Remove the wires from the new bulb and melt off the glue on the base of the bulb with a lighter. Now you will have two metal leads exposed at the base of the bulb. Insert the leads into the base you removed from the cuircut board and slightly bend outwards so the base stays on. Dab a little bit of solder onto each of the prongs, then solder each prong onto the appropriate cuirtcut. be careful with the soldering iron not to touch any other areas of the cuircut board. I would suggest buying the long thin attachment for this procedure, as the prongs are small and the base of the bulb will be close to the cuircut board when soldering. This procedure is not for the novice, and if you are I would practice practice practice before you attempt to install the bulbs. I have done basic soldering before but nothing on cuircut boards, and I changed 3 burnt bulbs no problem, though I have to buy extra bulbs because on my first attempt I cut all of the metal leads off. Cost me about 5$ to do, since I already have a soldering iron. Good luck.

Soldering Question

# Never touch the element or tip of the soldering iron. They are very hot (about 400°C) and will give you a nasty burn. # Take great care to avoid touching the mains flex with the tip of the iron. The iron should have a heatproof flex for extra protection. An ordinary plastic flex will melt immediately if touched by a hot iron and there is a serious risk of burns and electric shock. # Always return the soldering iron to its stand when not in use. Never put it down on your workbench, even for a moment! # Work in a well-ventilated area. The smoke formed as you melt solder is mostly from the flux and quite irritating. Avoid breathing it by keeping you head to the side of, not above, your work.
