Im not sure which item is displaying the error message, you werent too clear on that. i think that the yamaha is the one displaying the message.

what has happened is the unit having the error message set itself to use the other device's clock as a digital timing master. there is some way, inside the device in question, to go through the menues and find a selection for "clock source" . you want the "clock source" set to "internal" for it to operate independently.

if you tell me for sure which device is desplaying the message, i *might* be able to find out where in the menu you have to go to find the "clock source" selection, but, without a manual, it would be very hard for me to figgure it out for you. if you have a manual for the device, you need to search through it for the "clock source" menu feature. if you dont have a manual;, you would prolly have better luck searching for "clock source" in the menus then i would have locating a manual for you. its not impossible to find it fiddling through the menu, now that you know for what to look.

PSR-S500 keyboard. Why is CONNECT message not shown in display?

Connect shows when USB flash drive used. If Connect is not showing I would expect this to be a non stand USB drive or the drive is not formatted

How do i connect my keyboard and my laptop?

Download USB MIDI driver for yamaha from yamaha website, and install to laptop.
Next:
Make sure the POWER switch on the instrument is set to OFF,then use an AB type USB cable to connect the instrument to the laptop.
After making the connections, turn on the power of the instrument.
Laptop will immediately notify that new hardwares is connecting and automatically install the drivers. Wait until the process is finish.
Thats all. In Ableton, the setting MIDI input must be set to USB MIDI.

I get random unwanted midi notes triggering while I plug my dd-55 into my emu x-midi 2x2 with my Reaper DAW. I don't know if this is a problem with the emu or the dd-55 itself, but it doesn't...

Check that you don't have MIDI echo on in the DAW. If the MIDI data is echoed, it MAY be merging with the outgoing and when MIDI signals are merged in pieces instead of whole messages the data is corrupted. If you can look at the data stream with software, you should be able to spot the problem. Another problem might be excessive latency of the recording software. Make sure you do not have antivirus or antispyware programs running or network running. The Roland will spill data at much less rate and while the dd55 may overrun the DAW the Roland might not be able to. The key to the problem is to analyze the MIDI data stream that is being recorded.

Im trying to connect two rc-50 via midi! I want one of the them to act as a master and the other one as a slave. The goal is to have both machines working independently but have all loops on each rc-50 to...

While you can probably get the functions sent by MIDI to transfer to the other unit, syncing PROBABLY isn't going to work very well because there is a lag to form the MIDI sync clock (serial data) and then receive it, decode it and do something with it.The transmit time is about 1/3000 of a second and receiving is at least that much time. On rhythm things I have found the ear can hear 1/1000 of a second easily. If one could set the machines to use an EXTERNAL sync clock and drive the SAME clock to both units, you might be able to sync them together time wise as they would see the sync at identical times.

Problem with the Yamaha AW 4416: My AW 4416 is warning "LOW BATTERY", i want replace battery but i don't see it (I opened the board AW 4416). Please help me! Thank very much.

The "battery" MAY be a soldered in type.

Here is your service manual:

http://elektrotanya.com/yamaha_aw4416.pdf/download.html

Scroll down on the web page to "Get Manual" and download the manual.

The battery is on page 153 in the manual at grid N-10... you are NOT going to like this... it is in a Dallas Semiconductor real time clock chip... You have to replace the chip. It is IC709 which is a DS12887 chip.

The physical location can be found on page 58 about half way down the "A" sectioning line on the right side of the page. It is a 24 pin chip... It MAY be in a socket, or maybe not... PRAY !

Wow... $11.12 each from digikey.com

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=DS12887A%2B-ND

This info took me about 1 hour to dig out...searching for a battery was futile until I found the battery was related to the real time clock. If this isi soldered in, you need to have proper tools as the board is likely multilayer and takes care in solder removal... especially the new ROHS hi temp solders. You should take this to a board repair house if it is not socketed.

In a word definitely. You didn't mention your location so:http://www.yamaha.com/usa/ You will have to look here to find the nearest qualified repair person and I would suggest that the first repair person pay for it or at least pay shipping.

Getting an error message when starting the PSR 2100

I would do a factory reset. Search Google for: factory reset PSR 2100.

It will be holding certain buttons or keys down when powering on.
