Did you ever drop it?
Usually if a PSP will not read UMD's, either the laser is dirty or it has been moved. If you dropped it, the laser has probably been moved. You'd have to take the whole entire thing apart to move the laser back, assuming you knew the position it should be in in the first place.
Even if you have dropped it, the first thing I would do is to pick up a UMD drive cleaning kit for around $10 and try that. If that does not work, I would suggest sending it to be repaired.
I hope this helps!
it sounds like you have a docking station? if so try using the charger that came with it.(make sure whatever the charger is plugged into has power and dont assume if its on a power stip and other things that are plugged have power doesnt mean one outlet on the strip can go bad. If trying another charger doesnt work try a new battery keep the reciept in case it still doesnt so you can return the battery. If none of these tips help then your psp (MAY) have taken a crash.
the reason the umd wont load is because someone shut the psp off when the game was loading. so whoever did that just messed up your psp. i know cause someone did it to mine now i have to get it fixed or buy a new one. and to get the psp fixed its not guna be cheap.
