I can see by the setup of this device, it can be confusing. So let's make sure you are setting the device to the correct "A" speaker outputs. These would all be on the rear panel, on the right side of the receiver. Is this correctly setup?

To select the surround mode during playback,

press the AUTO button on the front panel.

    (Using the remote control unit)

To select the surround mode, press the AMP

button and press the > button until PAGE1 is

displayed. Press the AUTO (D1) button

    VOLUME
control knob on the front panel or VOL

    /
    buttons on the remote.

To increase the volume, turn the VOLUME knob

clockwise or press VOL button on the remote, to

decrease the volume, turn counterclockwise or

press VOL button on the remote.

    Notes:

    • The volume can be adjusted within the range of –

∞ to 18 dB, in steps of 1 dB.

    • However, when the channel level is set as described

on page 20, if the volume for any channel is set at

+1 dB or greater, the volume cannot be adjusted up

    to 18 dB.

(In this case the maximum volume adjustment

range is “18 dB - Maximum value of channel level)

Not everything will play in surround mode, as not everything is produced in surround mode, so make sure run the speaker test to verify the speakers are working in surround mode and the adjust the volume of each according to the distance and depth you desire.

This sub-menu is to adjust the speaker levels for

    7.1-channel input sources.

Here you will adjust the volume for each channel so

that they are all heard by the listener at the same

    level.

    1.
Select “7.1CH INPUT” in the SETUP MAIN

MENU with the or cursor buttons, and

    press the ENTER button.

    2.
To select “VIDEO IN”, press or cursor

    button.

    3.
Using the or cursor buttons, select the

video input source which is emitted from

Monitor out in the 7.1 CH INPUT function.

The input source is switched by pressing the

    or cursor buttons as follows;

    LAST ↔ TV ↔ DVD ↔ VCR1 ↔ DSS ↔

    AUX1 ↔ V-OFF ↔ LAST ↔

    Notes:

    • When select LAST, the source is set previous

source before 7.1 CH INPUT function is activated.

    • When select V-OFF, no signal is emitted from

    monitor out terminal.

    4.
To Select desired channel , press the or

    cursor buttons.

    5.
Using the or cursor buttons, adjust the

    volume level of each channel.

    6.
After you complete this portion of the set up,

move the cursor to “MAIN” with the or

cursor buttons and press the ENTER button.

    Notes:

    • These settings will be memorized to 7.1CH INPUT

    source.

    • This feature can be directly selected with the

    CH.SEL
    button of the remote controller.

    7 7.1 CH INPUT LEVEL

    V I DEO I N : LAST

    F RONT L : 0 dB

    CENTER : 0 dB

    F RONT R : 0 dB

    SURR . R : 0 dB

    SURR . B R : 0 dB

    SURR . B L : 0 dB

    SURR . L : 0 dB

I have marantz Av surround receiver model SR301 I have tried a lot but I am having sound from only 2 speaker when I put in setero mode but when I put in surround no sound from any speakers I checked all...

First off you will need to do a little bit of trouble shooting. Is the source (dvd, Blu-ray, cable box, etc...) plugged into the receiver with the standard red and white RCA cord or by an optical (toslink-fiber optic) or digital RCA (orange color code). If you are connected with a standard RCA cord then that it your problem and you need buy digital cord that both the source device and the receiver can accept (toslink - http://www.we-supply.com/browse.cfm/optical:-audio/2,779.html or Digital RCA). If the connection is now correct then you need to make your receiver do a "test-tone" to insure that a signal can be sent to every speaker (this is an internal test that just checks the speaker connections). If the tone tone operates correctly then you know the amplifier is functioning. If both of the mentioned things are now done and still not surround output then you need to check the internal menus on your source device and make sure that it does not require you to manual change a setting in the audio menu to make it work (i.e. change from 2-ch 44KHz to 5.1 or 7.1 or Dolby Digital or AC3 or some other surround sound protocol.)

I'm having trouble with sound when i try and install a surround sound system. This is the second system I've had that my lg would not play sound

Firstly you must have the remote typically to set the speakers up or there is a combination of keys to do this but usually some functions cannot be changed without the remote.
Second, the surround sound playback can only be played if the sound that you are listening to has the surround sound track, otherwise you may not hear hardly anything when your device is set to the wrong function.

The speakers must also match the surround sound system otherwise you may not hear anything at all.
Remember: A 5.1 System is 5-speakers,   A 7.1 system is 7 speakers!

The speakers should be marked for which place they belong LF= Left,Front...etc.

No surround sound

you may have a connection problem if its new take it back if not then try to make sure all wires are tight and secure if it still does it then it also could be the settings because on most surround systems you cann turn on and off individual speakers or select what speakers play and which dont refer to your owners manual

Protect error on marantz sr4200

Check all your speaker wires carefully. Chances are good that a braid has crossed from + to - and causes the unit to protect itself. This is a very common problem! everyone's done it at some point. Check connections at both the receiver side and the speaker side. If you still have a problem, post a comment and I can help you troubleshoot further. Hope this helps.

Marantz SR7500 headphone jack stopped working

There is a contact inside the jack that is closed when the plug is inserted. Apparently this is no longer happening. This should be an easy repair for a qualified technician.

Marantz Surround SR7500 Receiver (don't know if anyone has this model)

Hi 3303k

Strange dramas you are having there. I would suggest first, that you switch the unit off overnight(unplug at the wall) to allow for a fulll hard reset. Then fire it up in the morning again, and see if it behaves itself. I found a user manual for you online here

It is a good amp that you have, and hopefully resetting it will sort it out for you. If not, please do get back to me here and we shall look deeper..

Thanks for using FixYa, a FixYa rating would be great for looking into this for you. Happy to help further :)
