Zenith TV not programmed for home purpose

Got the same problem.  How can we reprogram these TVs?

If you have a remote that can access menu and your remote has number buttons and an enter key, you can follow this instructions to go to installer menu. Note that the installer menu is slightly different for each model, eg. some options are not available.

I was able to go to installer menu using two universal remotes. The remotes that I used were Dish Network 3.0IR and RCA RCU300WBL. Both remotes programmed for Zenith H2531DT TV. The reason why I had to use two remotes is that Dish Network remote was only able to access menu. It did not have ENTER key but RCA remote had ENTER key but I wasn't able to go to menu with that.

To go to installer menu (different from regular menu):

- Hold MENU for 8 seconds.
- Press 9, 8, 7, 6 and ENTER in the sequence.
You should be in the installer menu now. There should be a line that looks something like this:
03 VERT POS 13

Use SELECT button to scroll through each option, and ADJ button to adjust the values for each option. For example, to enable the front panel buttons on your tv, set KEY DEFEAT to 0. Other options that you might want to check:

CHAN LOCK which locks your TV to a single channel and wont let you change (set 0 to turn off)
START CH/VOL will set your tv to a specified channel when you turn on tv. (set 255 to disable)


You will have to look in the menu for some of the options because they are different for different TV series. A good place to find manual is on www.zenith.com or http://safemanuals.com/

I work in an old hotel and it took me few hours to figure out how to disable start channel lock. It drove me nuts. I hope someone finds this useful.

I found the manual for this tv and it requires what is called a Optional Installer’s Remote and Clone Programmer. From the manual, Purchase the Optional Installer’s Remote and Clone Programmer
To preform the installation setup, you need an installer’s remote like the LP702, and the LT1500 Clone Programmer - -
both are shown and described in later sections. The installer remote allows access to the Installer’s menus, User menus,
and Source/Channel Bank keys. The installer remote has Menu, Select, and Adjust Keys (Up/Down/Left/Right arrows) and
Source/Channel Bank Keys. The LT1500 Clone Programmer is used to duplicate a TV’s setup and install it on another TV.

In answer to allaun (Dec 10,2008) and anismalkan (posted on March 12,2009) to the use of a lp702. A universal remote control at 10$ would have done the same, letting you go in the menu, but still, no solution for the whole problem.
