Question about Whirlpool Kitchen Ranges

Electric range model WERP4120 most of the time I can't shut oven down with the touch panel switch. The panel controls seem to be frozen, can't shut off the timer after it indicates END. Have to cut power source to reset everything.

Basically you have to take the oven apart and check all of the wire connections for the control panel. Test them if you can. most likely the board is going bad and needs to be replaced. Let me know if you need help taking it apart, or if you have any questions with anything as I would glad to help you out with anything. If you don't feel comfortable taking the panels off of the range to check out the control panel, then don't but it isn't too bad of a job. If you want to order a new panel, any retailer of whirlpool ranges should be able to help you out with that or whirlpool itself but you may have to wait till Tuesday for this because of Memorial Day.

good luck and let me know how this goes for you

It's problem is one of the 2 ,you have to start by replacing the touch pad first IF any touchpad keys work when you touch them,if 1 pad key does not REPLACE THE PAD.other than that you will have to replace the CONTROL ELECTRIC (alias-CLOCK/CONTROL BOARD).

Oven overheats and shuts down with F1 error

F1 touch pad / ERC test
This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range
Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is
present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC
as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace
the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable
performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance
repair technician.

1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range
power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is
very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please
double check before continuing.
2. Gain access inside the control
panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch)
ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else
that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel
back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back on.
6. Wait for at least one
hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping
sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the
touch pad.

F2 - E6 Cancel key drive line open 1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).

F1 error code and constant beeping and oven shuts off.

Hi gwhiz03,

If you are having error code F1 with your Jenn-Air double wall oven this is because you have a defective touch pad or clock (ERC). This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Maytag oven shuts off?

Hi. This is a possible touch pad, or EOC(Electronic Oven Control Board) failure code. The test below will help isolate the issue.

This simple test will help determine whether the EOC (Electronic Oven Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the EOC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the EOC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.
