    fan is right does work.

    When I got this it had the same no boot up issue except Once or twice it would ,,,,,I saw the screen with windows 98 so I updated it with xp pro, before completion it froze --- waited for 3 hr to see if it would finish , still froze so I manually did shut it off, then never came on since then,

If the RAM is fine, but it's turning itself off after 10 seconds or so, then it's highly likely the motherboard needs replaced. What I would suggest, if you are comfortable doing it however, is to check the fan isn't simply clogged up (this will determine whether it is a problem with the motherboard itself, or simply a problem with the fan overheating, and the motherboard turning off as a fail-safe). Bear in mind, this will require stripping the laptop down, and should only be done if you can put it back together properly.

    Usually when testing motherboards, you would have;

    1. 2 CPU's
    2. 2-4 RAM chips (depending on the board)
    3. 2 PSU's
    4. 2 Hard drives
    5. 2 Graphics cards
    6. Tube of CPU coolant (the Silicon gel that goes between the CPU and the cooler - very important to prevent over heating)

    Having another spare part for the board allows quick and simple checks to determine whether the problem is with the board, or simply a faulty part.

    In your case, the machine turning itself off, is usually caused by a short in the board, or it's simply over heating. Without specialist equipment, it is very difficult to check this.

    You can obtain the silicon gel (CPU coolant) from most PC stores for a couple of quid.

Sounds like the battery is in trouble (discharged) or the charger is bad. If you have access to a voltmeter, read the voltage across the power cable plug with the pack plugged into the house outlet socket. Does a lamp work when plugged into the same socket? If the pack checks ok, then the battery may not be able to receive charge. Have it checked by a dealer.

My toshiba 2455-s305 wont boot up

If you are familiar with your laptop, i.e. the locations of hard drive, try to take it out of the its bay and put it back again. Also, if you can have someone check your battery packs, because from my experience with this laptop, when the battery packs is not charging well, i got some booting up problems.

Computer wont boot

Try disambling the system. Clean it with a wind blower. Check BIOS battery capacity. Replace if possible. Power on the laptop. Do you hear humming sound from hard disk ? If you hear sssssssshhhhh sound from hard disk; it's OK. Replace RAM with new one. If problem still exists Than change main board. Hope that not happen. Keep informing.

Doesn't boot up

First thing to do is check your RAM. If there is more than one RAM chip, remove one of the chips, and try booting. This will allow you to rule out a RAM issue.
