Re: EVO ! wont boot
If the RAM is fine, but it's turning itself off after 10 seconds or so, then it's highly likely the motherboard needs replaced.
What I would suggest, if you are comfortable doing it however, is to check the fan isn't simply clogged up (this will determine whether it is a problem with the motherboard itself, or simply a problem with the fan overheating, and the motherboard turning off as a fail-safe).
Bear in mind, this will require stripping the laptop down, and should only be done if you can put it back together properly.

Sounds like the battery is in trouble (discharged) or the charger is bad. If you have access to a voltmeter, read the voltage across the power cable plug with the pack plugged into the house outlet socket. Does a lamp work when plugged into the same socket? If the pack checks ok, then the battery may not be able to receive charge. Have it checked by a dealer.
While turning on your laptop keep tapping the F8 key...It will give you Advanced boot options...Select Safe mode frm the menu ... it will go to the safe mode ... then try to do a system restore to the date when it was working fine...Best of luck.
If you are familiar with your laptop, i.e. the locations of hard drive, try to take it out of the its bay and put it back again. Also, if you can have someone check your battery packs, because from my experience with this laptop, when the battery packs is not charging well, i got some booting up problems.
Try disambling the system. Clean it with a wind blower. Check BIOS battery capacity. Replace if possible. Power on the laptop. Do you hear humming sound from hard disk ? If you hear sssssssshhhhh sound from hard disk; it's OK. Replace RAM with new one. If problem still exists Than change main board. Hope that not happen. Keep informing.
