Question about Symbol MC9000 Batch Barcode Scanner Line cord for power supply

Hi I have a mc9000 and it is curenty stuck on the start up screen showing the mc9000 and motorola symbol. I have tried to warm and cold boot but it won't clear any ideas

A warm boot restarts the mobile computer by closing all running programs. All data that is not saved is lost.

A cold boot also restarts the mobile computer, but erases all stored records and entries from RAM. In addition it returns formats,
preferences, and other settings to the factory default settings.

Resetting the EDA

There are two reset functions, warm boot and cold boot. A warm boot restarts the EDA by closing all running
programs. A cold boot also restarts the EDA, and also resets the clock. Data saved in flash memory or a memory card is not lost.
Perform a warm boot first. If the EDA still does not respond, perform a cold boot.

Performing a Warm Boot - Soft reset

Hold down the Power button for approximately five seconds. As soon as the EDA starts to boot release the Power button.

Performing a Cold Boot - Hard reset

To perform a cold boot simultaneously press the Power button and the 1 and 9 keys.

Freezes on the warm boot screen MC9000


This can be for a number of reasons.

First thing would be to try and cold boot the device:-

Remove battery half way, hold power button and trigger, push battery in fully until click and then release power and trigger

If that fails next thing would be to try and re-flash the operating system. This is done by using an SD card and loading the latest operating files onto it. The SD card slot is located under the keypad. A cross head screwdriver is required to remove the keypad. Search on symbol software download site for the latest. The download also has a readme with detailed instructions. Once the files are on perform a cold boot.

Remove battery half way, hold power button and trigger, push battery in fully until click and then release power and trigger. Drop the terminal in a cradle so that it runs on external power.

Freezes on the warm boot screen


Hello jumpmaster. When an MC90XX does this, it means that something has gone wrong with the Operating System file execution. Sometimes a cold-boot can fix it (instructions below). If not, then there is a problem with the OS files. If you purchased your MC90XX from Motorola/Symbol you should be able to download a copy of your OS to reinstall. The file will include a readme.txt that will walk you through the process. I hope this solves your problem. Good luck!
  • To Cold Boot
  1. Press the primary battery release to partially eject the battery.
  2. While the battery is partially released: simultaneously press and release the trigger and power button.
  3. Push the battery back in until it clicks.
  4. The MC90XX should power up and start it's boot-sequence.

Our keyboards lock and we cannot enter data or log in. Cold boots do not work. What do we do?


The keyboards on MC9000 series terminals are replacable. You could have one of two problems-- corrupt firmware or an improperly installed keyboard. Contact the Symbol/Motorola Help Desk at 1-800-653-5350

Try a cold boot, then recheck your wirless settings
If that doesn't help, try deleting the Profile and adding a new one. Then walk through all the settings for wirless

Questions:

Have you tried the classic "hard boot"?

Do you have a WAN or LAN radio configuration?
Has the device worked for you in the past ... and no will not?

Until you answer my questions and I get back to you you might try pulling the battery out for 10 min or so... see if it reboots when you reinstall it
