I have a 1992 camaro rs, the engine is running rough, feel like it skipping, its worse under a load, when accelerating. At idle it loops. I have replaced the distributor cap and rotor, plugs and EGR valve. I disconnected the vacuum from the EGR and its still the same. can you help

im havin the same problem!!!! its a vacuum leak somewhere!!!

A friend of mine with this model says the EGR valve is prone to carbon clogging. This can cause rough running and stalling. His fix was to remove the valve, scrape out the grosser carbon deposits, soak it in carburetor cleaner and get the rest of it clean, then replace the EGR gasket with an aftermarket product that has a screen to keep the junk out.

Other things to check are the vacuum hoses and fittings, the fuel injectors, spark plugs and cables to make sure it's firing on all cylinders.

Do you get a "Check Engine" light? If so, go to a car parts store and ask them to read out the error code for you. This will help narrow down the problem. There are several sensor problems that could contribute to rough running or stalling under load, especially in "closed loop" mode (the engine runs "open loop" until it warms up).

Could be a vacuum leak as it falls off under acceleration and does not play a part then. Check for broken or cracked hoses.....

I worked on one of these the other day and what fixed the same problem it sounds like is I changed out the distributor cap and rotor. the rotor can be a pain to get off. and also don't cross any plug wires take one off at a time and put it on the new one.

REPLACE FUEL FILTER THEN FUEL PUMP

It sounds like you may have a problem feeding the fuel to your engine, I had the same problem with my 89 RS. All the 1989 model's fuel systems were recalled. I think you may need a new fuel pump. The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank in the rear of the car right under the rear axle. The fuel pump itself isn't too expensive, but with other small parts such as the electrical harness upgrade and fuel filter and the labor you should be looking somewhere in the $500 range. I hope this helps.

i recommend checking out your plugs and wires. If you take out any of the spark plugs look at their condition and compare them to each other if there is one darker or wetter than the others that is the one that is misfiring causing the vibration and difficulty in starting.

Does the car accelerate normally under heavy acceleration, or does it feel a bit lethargic?
Fuel economy?
Check engine lights?
Engine shaking at idle or other speeds?
Everything work on it (engine wise)?
