Question about HP Compaq nc4010 Notebook
Try tapping the FN + F8 (or other key that has crt/lcd or monitor) on it. Can you hear windows chimes? If you can hear the system fully boot up, but you have no video through the LCD on the system, try using the video out- or another monitor. If that does not work- there's a good chance that the video card/ video chipset on the laptop's motherboard has gone out. I would recommend contacting HP tech support if your system is still in warranty at that point- since if it isn't- as a minimum, you are looking at a fix that may cost as much or close to as much a new system.
