Question about XM Radio Dual XMP7000 Auto In-Dash CD player and XM Satellite Radio
I just bought an American Volkswagen Jetta and brought it back to Canada. I called XM Canada to load my factory XM Stereo. The Stereo has a fully functional preview channel but then it goes to "loading" for about 10-15 minutes, then it says "Failure". XM Canada said they have never heard of this and I need to bring it back to the Dealership.
Anyone have any suggestions why it will not load?Is it possible that there is an issue that the XM Radio was once registered in the US and now I am trying to register this radio in Canda.
I had the same issue. I called XM multiple time to have the signal resent. I told them I was receiving the preview channels and nothing else. I asked them multiple times if it could be hardware issue and they said no. I took it to the dealer and they ran a test ($98) and determined that the unit had failed. They didn't charge me for the $800 unit, but they did charge me $300 for the installation. Its working fine now.

Both of you probably have a toast module. I have gone through two XM modules with my GTI since January (same symptoms that you both described) and they both went kaput after a month. Finally my dealer's service mechanic phoned Volkswagen to find the goods. It turned out that with some cars it takes two or three XM modules before it will work right. This is a source of tension between Volkswagen and XM. I just put a call into Volkswagen Customer Care to try and get mine traded for a Sirius module, unless Volkswagen likes buying me XM modules every month.
