Fist clean your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor specifically around your central processing unit making sure there is no moisture in the air line
as dust will cause a lot of static which will make a computer overheat and cause lots of problems
then test your power supply unit PSU
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive one bad lead will cause a computer to shut down
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
then click start?run type?cmd then type?chkdsk/f which will automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive
you have to keep?a computer very clean & free of dust ?and? give it regular?maintanance
?hope this helps

First replace the leads from your motherboard to hard drive
the leads from your “((motherboard to your hard drive))” make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
another possible reason could be a memory dump you might be running to many programs at the one time placing to much strain on the CPU also you might not have enough RAM random access memory to check what is running when your computer is running scroll to the bottom toolbar right click select task manager applications and processes if you see something you dont need running select end now to check how much ram you have click start right click on my computer select properties you will see all of your computers details another way to check how much RAM you have click start all programs accessories system tools system imformation all of your computers imformation will be there try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then download a registry cleanerhttp://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/
    hope this helps

How to fix unexpected shutdown due to Blue screen problem of Pavilion HDX9494NR

See if the Check disk utility will solve your problem. To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown (Blue Screen)

When exactly do you get the error, I'm assuming you get this once Windows starts? These errors are most often caused by buggy or corrupt drivers. One that comes to mind is Norton. Does this unit go into Safe mode? If it does I would then go into msconfig. On the general screen there is a diagnostic startup. This loads only Windows most basic drivers and nothing else. If the machine works now then the BSOD is from a driver. If it doesn't boot then the first thing I would change are the memory sticks.
