Why is my freezer not cold enough?

Check the freezer door seal is not leaky. Look for signs of moisture condensation along the door. Apply a thin film of Vaseline along door frame. This will make door seal stick better.

Also check there is no ice building up in freezer. This is a self defrosting fridge and built up of ice inside means warmer temperature. Lower the use of ice cubes from the ice maker to reduce load on compressor as this can effect freezer temperature.

Check freezer is not full of too many items causing reduction of air flow and hence reducing cooling effectiveness.

Dorm refrigerator freezes everything

Lower the freezer letter by one letter, let set 24 hours for temp to stabilize, keep lowering until right temp/environment is achieved.

The temperature of refrigerators should not be allowed to exceed 41 degrees F as this will contribute to the growth of bacteria in the food, and cause different health problems, including food poisoning if consumed.
A temperature below 34 degrees F in the refrigerator may cause the food to freeze, and you will have to defrost it before using it. If this happens to vegetables and fruits they will go limp and will be rendered inedible.
At any time when you change the temperature, give it a minimum of 24 hours to take complete effect.
The external temperatures also influence the internal refrigerator temperature. This means, you will have to set your refrigerator lower in summer, and higher in winter, especially if you live in extreme climatic conditions. On the other hand, if the climate in your zone is moderate, your refrigerator temperature will be less affected by external temperatures.
In order to check and ensure the internal temperature of the refrigerator, you may place a thermometer kept in a glass of water in the fridge. The exact temperature will be available to you anywhere within 5-8 hours.
For your refrigerator to cool effectively, it is essential that your air vents are functioning well. Do not place any items before it, and clean it on a regular basis for maximum effect.

Refridge temp

Lets go over the way a sealed system works. There is a highj side and a low side. The low side is the side that passes through the evaporator coils inside the machine. Most times on the freezer side only, but sub zero has independent sealed systems for each side. Once it goes throug the evaporator its then condensed into a liquid state, the high side. This is also the hot side. Well, lower pressures in the low side would logically mean lower temperatures. So for the refridgerator not to freeze more freon is used on it to keep the low side pressure higher than normal, giving the cooling effect verses freezing. So, and here is the bad part, if you are seeing ice build up in the refridgerator side you have a freon leak some where allowing the pressure to be less than required to keep it above freezing. Call a service technician and depending on how the model, sub zero warranty is parts and labor covered for the first 6, and only parts from the 6-12 year.

The top compartment in the refrigerator is cooling effectively. But the lower compartment in the same refrigerator is not at all getting cool. Why is this so?

your damper vent door from the freezer to the refrigerator compartments is either stuck or frozen shut from moisture, sometimes they break and jam too,if this door doesnt open and close your food will get too warm or cold the door needs to move to keep the temperature correct

Please check inside your freezer for the working of the fan and then check inside the lower area for the air flow from the freezer. If you notice that the flow is less it is possible that the air duct is clogged due to build up of the frost. If so then you must shut off the fridge for about 8-10 hours. Once you find that the frost has cleared up then put the fridge on after the cleaning was done. Now check if the air flow is good, if not check the duct and the fan assembly for poor speed. However if the fault is clear now then you must check if the fridge is shutting off after 8-10 hours for auto defrost. If this is not happening then the fault can recur. Hence check you timer unit the heater unit and the thermostat for fault. Also any wire break on the cooling coils side of the electrical wires to thermostat./timer or fan or heater can be a cause. Try this out and check . Good day

I have Whirlpool refrigerator model: ET1CHMXKB 09. My fridge and freezer both work, but my fridge is not getting as cold as it should be.

Check the setting on thermostat switch. May be it is on less cool side. Or the gas in your fridge is leaking thus effecting the cooling. Check that
