Those are functions and they even can be reasigned by wish ...some of them have certain function in a certain operation system ...and to learn the basic ones you have to search for a page with functions ...it depends on the operation system that you use..for example ..
http://www.helpwithpcs.com/tipsandtricks/keyboard_shortcuts_windows_xp.htm
or in vista
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/04/08/complete-list-of-windows-vista-keyboard-shortcuts-hot-keys-or-accelerators/
the Fn key its kinda like the second shift key ..double the role for certain commands or keys..
in certain programs you can make your own speed dial and use the function keys ...or something like that ..
The keys that are not with functions directly on windows..usually have functions before booting up the windows..for example the F8 key on boot bring up the boot menu and leave you the possibility to choose a certain device or to boot from without make any changes in the Bios..or ..F10 key ..has the crucial role in Bios to save the changes you make ...and stuff like that ..
In certain games for example the function keys may have commands that will substitute other devices like pedals or joystick ..
I guess you make a picture...right ??? Have a nice day ..

How do you increase the display brightness?

Most of the time your keyboard will have pictures on the keys that have f1 f2 f3 etc. Find the one with the pic that looks like a bright sun. Press and hold the fn key and tap the key with the sun on it. Keep tapping till you get the desired brightness.

Where is the wireless button located on bytespeed PC

Check the function keys (F1, F2, F3, etc) for a "wireless" icon. Then when you have found it, hold the "Fn" key (lower left hand side of the keyboard) first and try toggling the function key until a menu comes up or the wireless starts to work.

I need to know what are the function keys on a keyboard

Hello earthaalford:
Your function keys are usually located on the top row and are labeled F1,F2,F3 and so forth. The function of those keys depends on what program you are currently operating in ie: Windows, Office , Word, Excel or any number of other programs.
Hope this helps, if it did just click the thumbs up.
Sincerely, Peter N.

How do you save mia's science game when you want to quit?

Q: How can we save our progress in the game?

A: You can access the save menu by pressing the F3key on your keyboard. In the save menu screen, all you need to do is click in one of the available game slots. The next time you play, the introduction menu will be changed and you will be able to load back your saved game(s).

Macintosh Specific

Q: We do not seem to be able to use the F1, F2, F3 keys mentionned in the instructions. What is the problem?

A:
If you have a MacBook or a slim Apple keyboard, you need to hold down the fn key on your keyboard in order to use the F1 through F15 keys. Alternatively, you can use the q, w, and e keys in place of F1, F2, and F3.
