I have the same problem! I find myself sticking my arms into the washer and agitating the clothes myself!! I don't have time for that!

Is that the only solution - to buy a new agitator? How does it stay in? There aren't any bolts or clips.

    thanks,

    Laura

Replace the agitator,if you look for a store that sells used machines you'll get the best price. Buy a used one!

I have an kenmore elite top loader washer model 110 27087602. During the spin it makes loud clunking noise. I seen the other post about the agittor nut sometimes loose but I do not see this nut under the...

Hello,

The most probable thing that is making that noise is a broken motor coupler if it drains but the tub doesn't move or even if the agitator doesn't move (espically the lower section) on the wash cycle the coupler is the problem. I have included a youtube video that will show you step by step how to replace the coupler http://youtu.be/9K1KHEogf3c
If it does agitate let me know and ill tell you how to completly remove the agitator to check that drive block you refer to as nut under softner dispenser

Hope this helps and if it does please give me 4 thumbs up

Noise in washer need to know how to remove agitator

For most Kenmore, Whirlpool, Estes, Maytag, and some GE washers the top portion of the agitator can be pried off (either a cap or fabric sofrtner dispenser depaneing on make and model) and there is a bolt underneath. Once removed, the agitator can be lifted straight out. Some GE's you have to actually "pop" the agitator by placing a strap underneath and lifting it out that way. If your are still having trouble, reply back with your model and serial number and we can go from there.

There are two methods used to hold the agitator in place. The first is a main bolt at the top of the agitator under the softener cup. The second is a small bolt located on the lower portion of the agitator. To access the transmission the tubs will have to be removed.
