How do you reload XP on a C2220 Fujitsu laptop when the partition is gone? Fujitsu doesn't provide an XP recovery disk, they only put XP on the partition. But my partition is gone.

Hi,
The recovery partition is somehow deleted and you do not have the OEM's Windows XP disc ?
Contact Fujitsu America Service and Support, they will ship you the opearint system disc, provided the operating system came factory installed : they will most probably ship it to you for free, or there may be a nominal charge of approx US$ 10.00
I am presuming that you are in the US / Canada.
Support for customers in the United States of America and Canada. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Phone : 1-800-8FUJITSU (1-800-838-5487)
ALSO, click on the foll. link and you can even chat with their customer support :-

Most computer manufacturers WILL ship you the factory installed operating system's disc for FREE, if you insist for it. They are obligated to ship it for free (the 1st time a request is made) and provided it is for the factory installed operating system.

If you have deleted that recovery partition then you need a Windows XP installation CD.
If you do not have this CD then contact Fujitsu for a copy of Windows XP installation CD, you may need to provide proof of ownership etc.
The Windows XP installation code should be on a Windows label on the bottom of your laptop, this is required when you start installing Windows.
You will also need to download the Notebook's device drivers from the Fujitsu WEB site to install on the notebook. You most likely need to download them from a different computer and then copy and install them onto the notebook.

I have already contacted Fujitsu's online support, and they do not provide XP installation disks.
Your comments are correct however for all my Dell computers, Dell provided me with a recovery disk that worked perfectly. Next time I'll by a Dell and not a Fujitsu.

If the Windows installation code is still on the bottom of your notebook and it is the same version as the one on your Dell (it could be X08 or X10 or X11). Then you can use the Windows installation CD to install Windows on the Fujitsu but use the installation code that is on the bottom of the Fujitsu.
If the Dell's Windows version does not match then borrow a Windows installation CD that matches from a friend, you may need to bribe your friend.

How do you do a hard reset on a Compaq Presario cq50-130us I've tried the F11 thing and it didn't work

According to the manual, only certain models had a recovery partition. The manual covers F11 recovery partition procedures for Windows VISTA, but not for Windows 7. If the unit has an SSD installed, it probably does not have a recovery partition. In that case you should use your recovery disks. These are the disks you were told to create at the time you purchased your PC. You can only make one set of recovery disks with the software provided, but they are only intended to allow you to restore the factory image should it become necessary. Many people do not read their manuals or the setup tutorials and fail to create these disks. Then, later, when they need them they are not available. If you don't have the recovery partition, and don't have recovery disks, then you have a problem. You will need to reload the OS manually, and then download and install the hardware drivers from the Compaq support site.

Can't perform system recovery on Fujitsu LifeBook UH 552

If you started a system restore from your CD, all of your data is gone and you must rely on your backups. Usually if you press F8 just before it tries to boot, you may be able to use the recovery partition on the hdd.

Hello,

If you have not removed all the partitions then you can boot with any OS disk and clear the c partition. After that take out the disk and press the recovery option. It should autometicaly partition the disk and reload the OS.

If you made any changes in the partition table then recovery could be done with the OS disk only.

Thanks.

Yes, you can use your XP disk (assuming XP is already loaded). Just make sure to get a complete list of your drivers (from device manager).

How to recovery the system from recovery partition

Did you know you only get ONE shot at creating a recovery disc? And most of the time it is garbage, just like Vista.

He tried to put XP on it and failed? weird.

A couple things you can do...

1. Get your hands on a Vista disk. If you know anyone that works in IT, you can borrow a Vista disk. Do a complete fresh install. Use your "Product Key" and you will have your own Licensed, perfectly legal version of Vista.

2. Get yourself a copy of XP. Delete all partitions, then create a new one. Don't try to save that Vista recovery partition...it's toast. I recommend XP, but I'm a dinosaur.

If you know anyone that works in IT, you can borrow

Deleted Vista Recovery Partition. Now XP installer can't read HDD

if you have created recovery disk before the deleting of the recovery partition u can format the drive from your bios and create a new recovery partition using the recovery disk if not if your pc has crashed and your recovery partition is gone u will have to get a new operating system software but if your pc is still stable just run the recovery manager and restore to factory settings and it will put recover partition back on your hard disk
