Why did evaporation pan overflow

Posted by on

  • thatchjennie Dec 12, 2008

It appears the white plastic drip/evaporation pan overflows at least once a month since we purchased the GS5SVAXVA. A technician tried to "level" the pan, but it continues to overflow regularly. Good thing we do not have a wood floor in our kitchen.

Had excess frost buildup in the freezer due to humidity or door ajar or to much door traffic.

SOURCE: Overflowing drip pan under the fridge

for reallybsq
problem could be door seals not sealing completely and hence excessive ice formed on evaporator and excess water when it melts. however, i have found this problem many times with large larder fridges and really found no cure.

for guest.
towards the bottom of the back wall, there is a gulley with a drain hole in the middle. this drain is blocked. clear it with something flexible and make sure water flows away freely

Whirlpool refrigerator is leaking water

If the water is pooling around the bottom of the fridge I would pull the fridge out and pull the panel of the back of the fridge and check to make sure the black plastic drain pan is in place and the white or clear plastic hose coming from the bottom of the fridge is aimed at the drain pan, if they are not then that would be why you have water pooling up under the fridge. Generally the Walter gos into the drain pan after defrost and the heat from the discharge lie of the compresser evaporates the water and it should never overflow. Hope this helps

There is water coming from under the refrig. The overfill water pan is full that is under the freezer. The ice maker is working and so is the water dispenser. The coils are really dusty could this cause...

The overflow pan is the water that is collected during the AUTO DEFROST and usually the water evaporates off before the next defrost cycle. so if there is overflow of water on the collection tank , then the thermostat must be kept a little lower to reduce more frosting.

Unit ED5DHEXWQ bought 2 weeks ago Drip pan over flows- water not evaporating quickly. Company tech say I need to modify my frig by placing a heater. 2 The refrig side is not gettinG COLD ENOUGH - MY MILK...

The tech is full of beans. The heat from a normally charged refrigerator is more than enough to evaporate water in drip pan.
The indication of improper charge is that obvious. Fridge warm freezer ok would be a coil blocked with ice, however drip pan overflowing is a charge problem, Ask for a field supervisor.

Drain pan overflowing with water, what is happening

sound like the cooling coils may have a lot of frost build up on them and when it defrosts it allows the pan to fill up before it has a chance to evaporate. might try unplugging the refrigerator for 24 hours and try again.

Overflow tray is filled with water how do i get it out?

Hello, I'm thinking that what you are refering to is the tray under the fridge, is that correct ? If so, that is not an overflow tray but rather the condensor pan. When your fridge cycles thru a defrost cycle the water from your thawed freezer evaporator collect's under your fridge where it sit's in this pan and evaporates. If you are talking about something else let me know. I'll watch for your reply. If this is indeed what you where inquiring about, than that should answer your question and I hope you take a second to rate the info I provided. Thank you for visiting "fixya". Macmarkus :)

Drain pan overflowing, evaporator not working ??

The condensor fan and the heat from the compressor help the evaporation of the condensate. Sears has a complete model number system that is confusing I know. Sears made it that way. Not sure why but look around the cold food door while open and look near bottom on the frame just above the kick plate. The number looks like this, (model No. 253.64802400 for example) Find that number and we can go from there, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Whirlpool side by side defrost drain pan overflowing

Maybe your machine has a leaky door, letting moist air inside. Make sure your compressor area is lint free. The heat from the compressor is supposed to evaporate that water. Make sure the pan is exactly in the right place, level, not cracked.
