This is my first day attempting to set up 2wire model 2701HG-B. My DSL light goes from flashing red to flashing green to solid red, over and over. I have been unable to access the internet. The email address below should be used to respond.

Hi. DSL light refers to the phone line connection at the back of your modem. Please make sure the the phoneline at the back is properly inserted to the modem and check also the other end of the phone line if it is properly inserted to the phone box. Solid red means line is not sync to the main distribution point. If botrh ends are intact then you need to contact you internet service provider and have your DSL line checked by their technicians.

When i connect the dsl cable to it the dsl light starts flashing green then red

Put tinfoil over your splice connectors and filters as they leak signals that totally confuse your modem. Never leave any bare wires, I tinfoil the entire modem to prevent the neighbors from hacking me. I don't use wireless, only CAT5 ethernet cable.

Hi there, I have had my 2 wire for a while now. The other day the power light turned red. I reset the 2 wire then the power light started to blink green, the dsl turned green as well as the internet....

Red light goes for defective modem if your 2wire is still in warranty then i would suggest calling your OEM... or if your under a certain package call your internet service provider... one thing might work though but still a risk you may try looking for a PSP powercode it sometimse works with it...
if you got them form AT&T you can buy the power cord alone... just act aggravated that does the trick most of the time or ask for a supervisor...
i should know I worked with them for 2yrs as a tech support

thanks Roger

I cannot stay connected to internet, my model 2701HG-B 2wire at&t dsl will start flashing red then disconnect me from the internet or my game site, how can i get this to stay fluently connected please!

You might want to try disconnecting everything EXCEPT the power cord. If you still get the red power light (it should stay there forever) then bring the gateway to Radio Shack or somewhere they have a 5 volt DC @ 2 amp power supply and plug it in for 5 to 10 minutes and see if the power light then stays green. If it stays green then all you need is a new power supply! If not, then the gateway is fried. Mine keeps going from a solid green power light to a flashing green power light and I can hear a relay click every 2 minutes at which time a pop-up say "ethernet line disconnected". I tried new power supply etc. to no avail! It is fried after 1.5 years! No more 2wire for me!

My 2wire has the power light red and the ethernet green and th wireless solid green and the dsl off and the internet off....what can i do

I had the same problem on the Gateway 2701HG-B supplied from ATT for use with their DSL service. From searching the web, I learned these variety of modems apparently have an expiration date on the power cord at about 18 mos to 2 years. Mine is almost exactly at 2 yrs.

I replaced the power cord and now it works fine. You can order the OEM replacement from att e-store or try Radio Shack for a universal cord.

2WIRE 2701HG-B with flickering DSL light.

The DSL is out in your area or the phone line has been disconnected.
I would contact ATT&T to find out if thire is a service issue in your area

2wire 2701HG-S Embarq to AT&T

that is typically a bad username in the modem, you will have to put there temp user name in for registration for the DSL. and after that you can put the username into the modem that you created during the registration process. Should be taken care of.

2wire 2700HG-B Dsl light blinks green than turns turns red, keeps repeating. does not connect.

If your DSL light goes green solid to red check to make sure all your phones are filtered. Make sure your not filtering your 2Wire.

My SBC 2Wire modem (yellow light) in the middle between the green lights goes on and off. Intermittent....

The middle light is the light for internet services. If it is flashing that means its looking for a dsl signal, if its solid orange that means it needs authentication information (IE: username/password entered into it) and if its solid red that means you have no signal at all. What I would recommend is first check all the phones/alarms/satelite dish systems in your house and make sure they all have dsl filters on them before plugging into the wall, since this will cause an intermittent dsl connection. If everything is fine then call your Internet Provider and have them do some line tests for you to see if the service is having problems.
