Question about RCA L26WD26D 26 in. LCD TV

1 Answer

Ihave a RCA L26WD26D FLAT SCREEN TV. I HAVE SOUND, BUT NO PICTURE. IT IS BLACK. HAVE HAD TV ABOUT 2.5YRS. MANUF IN JUNE 2007. YOU CAN CHANGE CHANNELS. VOLUME CONTROL WORKS. TRIED RESETTING TV. NO CHANGE. I AM THINKING IT IS THE DIGITAL VIDEO CARD THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I ALSO CHECKED THE INPUTS. INPUT IS CORRECT. CARD IN TV IS A CEF276A. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION? AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK. I WOULD NOT THINK IT WOULD BE THE POWER SUPPLY OR THE BACK LITE INVERTER, BUT NEED YOUR ADVICE.THANKS MUCH

Thanks for your comments. One more quick question. I took out the digital video card and it is a CEF276A .I found one online, but it is listed for a sharp tv. But I checked all of the different numbers on each board, and everything absolutely matches. The rep. said that even though the cards have the same numbers that it might not work on a RCA. This does not make sense to me. I see absolutely no difference in the cards. I would think that certain cards can be used in more than one brand of tv.

    what is your opinion?

It definitely sounds like the video card / video board to me as well. The screen is most likely just fine, it could possibly be the power supply but I would not suspect it, you are correct in thinking the most likely issue is that video card. However make sure you order it from a place that will let you return it (if possible) so that if it doesn't correct the situation you aren't out the price of the board. If anything you could sell it on ebay, but that's not ideal as a backup plan if you know what I mean. If it doesn't fix it, it would almost have to be the power supply, as sometimes they can be just "failing" and not fully failed... having enough power to get everything on but the screen. However this is not the most likely case. Something to check into though before all this would be... If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.

Thanks so much, let me know! But I feel you are right on track with the video card. Check to make sure you can't just get refunded first though. I always buy my tvs with my American Express for just this reason, and have received full refunds on two different tv's, and one was $3000! So check that out first.
Thanks Tim

You are absolutely correct, it will work. Most of those reps don't know much as far as actually installing them, but I shouldn't say that, they are just doing their job....

Most TVs have parts in them from all different manufacturer's, hardly anyone makes all their own parts. It will definitely work in your TV.

It sounds that the main digital processor board has failed. Contact any service technician, before make it sure.

I have an RCA L26WD26D TV/DVD combo. It work great, until one day I turned on and there was no sound and a white screen. What can I do to repair my tv?

A white screen means that you are not getting any signal to your lcd screen. That is the job of the T-con board. The T-con board is located on the backside of the screen attached to it. You can get parts from www.interliquidparts.com

TV Turns on and turns off no picture and no sound does this for about a minute and then completly turns off

It sounds like a short circuit somewhere inside. The circuit breaker keeps tripping until it gets too hot and then stays open until it cools off

RCA LCD TV 26 screen turns white, no sound no nothing

You have a blown fuse in the power supply. It does not look like a fuse.
It is near the top of the board and is labeled as 1.6 amp. It supplies 12
volts to the main board (via q422). A 2 amp fuse should be a fine
replacement.

42" LCD tv shows picture on only half of the screen, other half dark!

The T-Con board (otherwise known as LVDS) connects to two seperste parts of the LCD panel. If you do have half a picture (left or right) replacing the T-Con board should resolve this issue. Open your TV, find the part number and search on eBay or at sites like www.flattvparts.co.uk where you can search by TV model number.
