Question about Fuji Computers & Internet

I didn't know I wasn't supposed to plug my Fujitsu 500 GB Handy Drive until my laptop was on - dumb, I know, but I hadn't used one before- and now my laptop won't give me an "Safely eject hardware" button on my task bar. Did I wreck something? Is there a way to undo what I did?

I tried it, but now even when I plug it in after my laptop is on, it recognizes the drive, but I still do not get an eject storage device button. Now what? Did I wreck it? I am afraid to just unplug it. I am using a Gateway M-285 E and I can't find any way to manually eject it. Sigh. I know, I am an idiot...

The only thing that happens when you unplug it without using the safety eject hardware option is that it could be in the middle of downloading information. If ejected before thats finished you may not have everything you meant to keep. If your not in the middle of saving something to that drive, just go ahead and remove it - just this one time - without using the safety eject option. I would not suggest doing this all the time as you might compromise the data saved on the drive.

If you don't want to just unplug it manually without the safety removal prompt, try this!

Lets locate the drive and go through the ejection process that way. If your running win xp, go to "my computer" on your desktop. If your running other versions, please advise and I will walk you through locating your drives on your computer. Double click on my computer and you will see a screen that shows your main drive (C), your CDROM or DVD player (if you have one) which are usually "D" and/or "E". Your flash drive will show up as a removeable drive. Do you see it listed? Right click with your mouse (click on the button on the right side of the mouse instead of the normal left side) you will get a drop down list with options. Look for "eject" and choose this option. This will allow you to safely remove your flash drive.
