Question about HP Pavilion dv9700t Notebook PC

1 Answer

Today, my computer turned on for the first time after 5 months of not turning on. I did a virus scan, found some viruses, and norton told me to reeboot, so I did. After that, my computer turned back on, but only showed the power lights and the strip of lights on the touch-sensitive volume and stuff. I followed a troubleshooting thing of taking out the battery, unplugging it, holding power for 2 min, plugging in, and turning on. After this it did not turn on. I then tried turning it on again and again. I then unplugged it and waited about 5 min and it turned on. It turned on, but the screen was still black. Is there any known way to fix this? It is a pavilion dv9700.

The problem is your motherboard is defective or the bios is corrupted.

The monitor on it is broken, but other than that, it works fine.

My computer is restarting frequently and turn to blue screen

Hi,

When your screen just turns blue and the computer restarts it's usually because of a virus. I would recommend you download an anti virus on another virus free machine. if you download it on the machine with the virus it may disrupt the download. I would personally recommend norton antivirus internet security. You will have to pay for it, and if you can't just try download the free trial version. You can buy Norton Internet Security here at http://www.symantec.com/downloads/index.jsp
Should You decide that you want to download the trial version you can download it here
http://us.norton.com/downloads/trialsoftware/index.jsp
After you download the software, scan your infected computed and then remove the viruses.

Good Luck

My norton antivirus is not runing setup and not unstall also... my computer got email virus also..

install the kasper antivirus software.. it is very protective for mail.. scan every new device(ie.pen drive, cd,dvd) before you access it in your system.. use only one antivirus software in your system.. If you have more than one antivirus software, it will tends to slow processing of the system..

Cannot launch my Norton 360 to perform scan

Boot in safe mode and try to run virus software.
If you can remove hard drive? find another hard drive that has a system with virus software, and make your drive the secondary drive and run virus software.
Usually your virus cd boots or lets you make a boot floppy, when booted run virus software.
Have a nice day

Please completley remove the norton security from my computer...trying to run something comcst says you need to do something to rmove it...please do asap ...thank you

Go into Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs. Wait for the list of all programs to load up.

Go down through the list and look for Norton Internet Security. Remove it. It will take a very long time, sometimes 1/2 hour or more depending on speed of computer. Reboot the computer after it has been removed, especially if/when it asks you to reboot after the process.

After rebooting, go back into Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Look for Symantec or Norton's Live Update, remove that as well. Also remove any other Symantec/Norton Anti-Virus or Internet Security programs as well. Then reboot the computer again.

Your computer should be much, much faster now. So now you need a new Anti-Virus program...

I've found in my experience that Norton and McAfee do more damage to some computers than good, besides the fact that they are severely over-priced. I would NEVER install either Norton (Symantec) or McAfee on anyone's computer. Matter of fact, I just had to remove Norton 2008 from a lady's computer today, an old Dell 2400 because her system was too old and slow to run new Norton.

My suggestions for much better anti-virus would be...

- Kaspersky Anti-Virus (search for it on Google, etc)

- Trend Micro PC-Cillin Anti-Virus (search for it on Google, etc)

- AVG Free Anti-Virus at http://free.grisoft.com, they also have more elaborate versions with more protection for a cost.

I personally use AVG on my computers, and my family does as well. It's very effective and gets out viruses that even Norton cannot remove.
