Question about Maytag Ovens

3 Answers

My wife tried to use her oven today and it would not work. The digital display on her older CRE8600BCL Maytag Self Cleaning oven immediately displays a blinking F4 code and does not turn on. What does the error code indicate or what may be wrong. Thanks in advance for any assistance that you may be able to give me. Linnford Bender

I found this link that might help you:

It looks like your oven temperature sensor may be bad. I searched for a pdf download manual for your model, but couldn't find one.

Good Luck!

F4 code means shorted temp oven temperature sensor; sounds alarm and inhibits cook mode.

Replace oven temperature sensor.

The self clean setting on ovens should be labelled "Self Destruct". This often overheats the timer. This company does oven control repairs. You just remove the timer and send it to them. They repair it for $106 and send it back. There is no charge if they can't repair it.

Hi

This means a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.
