Question about Sony UP20 Digital Photo Printer

1 Answer

I have a Sony UPD21MD Printer. When it prints it prints or rather skips a small line across the picture. I cant figure out what is causing this. The line is very fine and its in the same place ever time. I have taken it apart but not sure what to look for.

Check under the printing head. There might be some dust accumulation stuck there and that cause that problem. I experienced the same problem ans that was the cause.

I have a HP 7590 printer and it sometimes skips line or some of the lines are faded when printing black .

Perform the following steps to reduce or eliminate faded or grainy lines:
  1. Print at a higher quality setting.
  2. Verify that the paper you are printing on will lay flat. Paper that is not laying flat can cause banding when the paper transitions over the rollers or cause the print cartridges to scrape across the surface of the page. Check the top sheet of paper by removing it from the all-in-one and placing it on a flat surface. If the paper does not lie flat, bend it in the opposite direction to straighten it. I have tried everthing in "Lexmark X5495 Help"

Sounds like you just need a new printer. Some times the encoder wheel can get dirty with aerosolized ink and it will start to skip lines. The encoder wheel is a small plastic wheel on the paper feed of your printer. Around the edge of the wheel are hundreds of small thin black lines. As paper goes through the printer it counts these lines as the wheel turns to know how far to push the paper. If ink or debris gets between the lines over time it can start counting two lines as one and thus advance the paper too far, causing blank space between prints. See the below picture of a printer encoder wheel for reference. My professional opinion is to not purchase Lexmark. New Canon printers are very reliable with a high quality output, look for one that uses CLI-221 cartridges. Or most any HP.

My epson stylus photo R240 skips black lines when printing even though I have clean the print heads 10 times .

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges?

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc. These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, skip lines, put stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Sony KF50WE610 Vertical Blue Lines Across Screen

the vertical blue lines indicate some interference from other electronic gadgets near your tv. it started showing up on my sony grand wega when i installed my wireless modem. i almost ordered a new rear projection lamp costing over $100 but decided to experiment. i first moved my desk computer farther away from the tv then isolated the wireless modem router by placing it inside a small glass - the vertical blue lines became lighter in color so i dedided to find another small glass that fit inside the first glass container then put the router in the double glass - no more blue lines and my wireless modem router still works.
do some deductive thinking to figure out what's messing up your tv and isolate the interference.
good luck!

Q: How can I tell if the computer or the printer is causing a print quality problem? A: You can print a nozzle check pattern to determine whether the print quality problem is caused by the Epson Stylus Photo RX680 Series or some other source.
