Question about Kodak EasyShare Photo Printer 500

No picture is coming out. Print head does not appear to be engaging.

    Ok I will look into the status light as you are saying. I will get back to as soon as I can and let you know if this worked. I don't believe it will, but I am hopfull. Here is what the printer is doing: After picking a picture to print. The printer is selected. The printer then acts like it is printing, but no picture appears on the paper. We have been on the phone with Kodak and they have tried everything on the software side. I am hoping that you will be able to help me troubleshoot and fix the hardware side of it.

How are the status lights indicating? if the Color Cartridge light is blinking quickly, check the color cartridge.The color cartridge may lock in place if there is a paper error. Do not attempt to remove the cartridge without first clearing the paper error and Make sure the Paper light is off before attempting to remove the cartridge. pos back with further details especially on status lights.

Go through these questions and answer to find out the problem :

» Have you made any recent changes to the printer?

ans : Have you made any changes recently on your printer or in the printer's settings? If this is the case, please try to reverse what you have done before continuing since this might easily solve your current problem.

» Do you have a power failure?

Ans :Have you checked that your printer problem is not due to a power failure? A printer that is switched on normally have a green indicator light lit. If the light is not green, check that your power button is set to on, that you have electricity in your wall outlet and that the power cable is connected at both ends. When power is applied, you should be able to hear the printing mechanism move inside or the printer should start to "hum".

If above is checked and the printer still not seems to indicate that it is switched on, it could be that your printer has a serious problem and you need to contact your printer maker. First of all, check the instructions that are given for this error in the printer manual before proceeding contacting your printer manufacturer.

Links to most printer manufacturers can be found on our printer manufacturer list. It's worth the effort to visit your printer makers website since your printing problem might be model specific. Some printer makers have their own printer troubleshooting forums or Q&A guides where you can find answers to the most common printer problems.

» Do you have a printer cable failure?

Ans :The printer will not be printing if its not connected to the computer. Check that the printer cable connecting your printer to the computer is firmly attached at both ends. Apart from this cable, there should be one more cable which is the one connecting to the wall outlet.

» Does the indicator lamp indicate a problem?

Ans : Is your printer indicator lamp lit in another color than green (orange or red for example) or is your indicator lamp blinking?

Check your printer manual for indications on what the color/blinking might mean. Every printer model have its own set of alerts which mean that you need to find your printer manual to understand what your specific printer problems are.

» Are you printing to the correct printer?

ANS : Make sure that you are printing to the printer you think you are doing.

It could be that the printer is not printing if the default printer has changed or if you are trying to print to a virtual printer e.g. a PDF printer.

To check and change the current settings for the default printer:

Assuming that you are using Windows XP:
1. Go to the start bar.
2. Click on the control panel and choose Printers and Faxes.
3. A window opens up with icons for all available printers, right-click the icon for the printer that you want to use as the default printer.
4. On the menu that pops-up, look for the setting "Set as Default" or "Set as Default Printer". If it is checked, this printer is already set as the default printer otherwise click the selection to set the printer as the default printer.

Assuming that you are using Windows Vista:
1. Go to the start bar.
2. Click on the control panel and choose Hardware and Sound and clicking on Printers.
3. A window opens up with icons for all available printers, right-click the icon for the printer that you want to use as the default printer.
4. Right click the printer you want to set and mark it as the default printer if it's not already marked as such.

» Is the printhead obstructed in its movement?

Ans :The printhead needs to be able to move freely. Open the cover on the printer and check that no paper is hindering the movement of the printhead.

If your printer is newly bought and unpacked, check that no tape is attached causing your printer problems by hindering the printhead movement.

» Are you out of paper or do you have a paper jam?

ANS : Make sure your paper tray is not empty, nearly empty or jammed full. All these conditions might cause your printer problems since the paper feeding mechanism will not operate.

Do you have the correct paper size in the correct paper tray? Check your printer manual for the correct ranges of thickness and paper size.

If you print in a humid environment, your paper may be damp. This can obstruct the paper movement mechanism jamming the paper in the printer.

The rollers feeding the paper through the printer might be worn down. Note that changing rollers can be easy to do on some printer models while very hard to on others.

A paper sheet might jam the printing mechanism causing the printer to not run. If you have paper in the printer mechanism this needs to be manually removed before the printer can print again. Please note that you might need to open many access doors on the printer to verify that no paper is stuck. Always pull the paper in the direction of the paper path, if you pull the paper backwards you might damage the printer.

» Are your ink or toner cartridges empty?
Ans : Ink cartridge or toner cartridge related printer problems should normally be detected by the printer which then should indicate this with a blinking or non green lit indicator lamp.

If this is the case, exchange the empty cartridge with a new one and you should be up and running again. You can find new printer cartridges that fit your printer model in our ink & toner search.


The printhead is in a way the core component of an inkjet printer - its task is to deliver ink to the paper via the nozzles. Most often, the printhead is attached directly onto the ink cartridge but systems also exist with the print head separately installed.

Like ink cartridges, also the print head can wear out and need to be exchanged. It's not to uncommon that printer related problems are due to problems with clogged ink in the printhead. For this reason, and for the reason of not getting burned, do not touch the printerhead with your fingers!

Printer head cleaning cartridges, are used for cleaning the nozzles and is recommended to be used on a regular basis to prolong the life of the ink cartridge.

No red color appear when i print pictures

The Magenta print head nozzle maybe blocked.

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Printer heads errors

switch on the machine wait till error appears on panel, go to the system open internet explorer type IP address enter you can view the entire printer over view.. check which print head showing faulty, ask to replace the head open top cover of the printer open print head cover remove print heads clean print head contact pcb as well as carriage contacts insert print heads back then check for the print head recognition, printer will perform its own priming and all wait till ready mode comes onece ready mode appears.. print heads are OK.. if not replace faulty print head/s.Most of the cases cleaning is enough.

My epson r230 is having a problem, the magenta color doesn't appear evenly during nozzle check and when i print picture it doesn't appear nice and clear please help me solve my problem. thank you!

I can't say for sure but it sounds like your print head is permanantly clogged. I avoid Epson because they have a permanent print head unlike Hewlet Packard HP printers. I think there is a solution kit you can buy that runs a solvent through the print heads to clean them out. Look for something like that as a replacement print head typically costs more than a new printer. Hope that helps, Take care.

I refilled both black and color ink catridges and after doing it plenty of lines are coming in the picture print outs even though letters appear good when i take black only .i did deep cleaning also .print...

insert your'e (prob. clogged) cartridge head surface into hot water for about 30 seconds. Then test the cart. over a paper tissue. If you see all colors test it on printer. If not you prob. need to vaccum the head. If all fails, replace cart.

My HP C6150 prints pictures fine but the text is incomplete. I have tried different ink cartridges and have cleaned print head and done a cartridge alignment. What else is there?

1. During the cleaning of the print heads you probably clog some of the jets that distribute the ink.
If you didn't use the proper cleaning procedure you may have damaged the print heads.
the color heads are probably not affected therefore the pictures prints come out clear.

Could be just dust on the print head. Try to use the cleaning process with the cleaning cassette that came with the snaplab, and the yellow patch that comes with each case of paper. If that does not help, you may have a damaged print head...By

Canon MP360 not printing

You probably need a new purge assembly, it draws some ink to both clean and prime the printhead. When it stops working you won't get any ink to the paper.

Canon i960 printer won't print in blue

Your problem is the print head. You can buy one from Canon for about $95, or find them new from dealers on Ebay for $60 to $70. For a less expensive fix, try to remove the print head and clean it. (You don't need any tools, just remove the ink tanks and pull the print head forward and out. Over time, the receivers tend to get dry & crusted ink on them. Note that the inks used are fast drying inks to keep your pictures, etc. from smudging after you print them. Try not to use solvent. I use q-tips and hot water, then dry using another q-tip. If this does not work, there are commercial cleaning kits available for about $10. Short of that, your choice is to replace the print head or the printer itself. My i960 prints such good quality color prints and normal color printing, that I would fix it rather than replace the printer. I hope the easy cleaning does it for you!
