Question about Kenmore 3.8 cu. ft. HE4t Front Load Washer
We had the F-02 error and used great advice from this site to clean out the pump (a pair of undies was stuck in there). Thanks!
However, water will still not drain and the drain pump now makes a whirring noise. It will do this indefinitely, until we unplug the machine. Any ideas? Do we need a new pump?
With the article of clothing trapped inside the drain pump, it could have very easily damaged the pump impeller. This is an easy repair if you wish to pursue the option of repairing it yourself. This can save you a lot in additional labor charges. A replacement pump can be purchased from searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number and follow the different repair parts headings on the next page. I believe your part will be found under a heading for "Pump and Motor Parts. An entire replacement pump runs in the neighborhood of about $73 the last time I checked. This is still cheaper than paying a repairman. If you need instructions on how to replace, just click on the following link:
I hope you find this information helpful. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know.
PS The link above describes the symptoms as a pump that is not running. I should have worded this a little differently, because (as you can tell) there are cases where the pump runs, but still won't drain. Just wanted to clarify, so you aren't confused.
