Question about Dryers

I just bought a Whirlpool Duet Steam Dryer. After using the steam cycle once or twice, water pours into the dryer and my clothes come out sopping, dripping wet! What's wrong?

My clothes come out sopping wet with water in the tub of the Whirlpool Duet Steam dryer after using the steam cycle. Now, the dryer spews water no matter what setting I use.

This solution matches what the repairman thinks may be the problem. However, I have to wait a month for the new valve to come in...it's on backorder. So, I guess that tells me that the valve is just defective. Thank you for your help. It's unbelievable that a brand new appliance already is having problems. This doesn't bode well for the future.

It sounds like the solenoid valve for the steam system is hanging open letting water run in to the steam chamber and then right into the drum. Their is either some debris hanging open the valve ,or it's just a defective valve. Your not going to be able to fix this concern without replacing the steam valve assy

PS. this valve works almost exactly like the valve in your refrigerator ice maker water line

The problem is in the water spray nozzle failing to turn water into mist or the heater is not heating enough to turn the mist into steam.

Check to make sure that these functions are working and refer carefully to the Instruction Manual regarding the use of the Steam Cycle. Call up retailer and report the issue if all else fail. Do not attempt to open up and repair the dryer yourself to avoid voiding the warranty.

You have an electronic control issue or a water inlet valve stuck in open if the water keeps coming in even with the dryer unplugged.

My Whirlpool Duet DRYER--the clothes are wetter than when I put them in & there is now water sitting in the bottom. It does have a steam setting, but I'm not using that one. It's 4 years old.

Check your exhaust vent! If you have an obstruction, the steamy air will have no where to go, then your air-conditioning temps inside can cause the water to condense in the vent tube... Even if the vent is just open to the hot summer air and the clothes sit in the machine the difference in temps between inside and outside can cause these symptoms...

You will need to replace the "water valve" on the unit. The solenoid is letting to much water thru. Here is a link to the part to order.
