Question about Lenovo 3000 N200 PC Notebook

1 Answer

I recently installed Windows 7 on my Lenovo N200 Laptop. I am facing two problems here:\r\n1. When I restart / reboot my laptop, screen resolution is changed on it's own. 2. When I restart/ reboot, mouse pointer is in active and I have to restart again. I tried reinstalling Windows several times but no use. I also tried updating the mouse drivers but no use. Could anybody please help me!!!

Windows 7 CD automatically installed all drivers.
I tried to update the drivers but Windows tell me I already have the latest drivers.

the specs are good. the drivers that you have installed in the laptop, did you use the driver cd that came with the laptop?

  • nyel12 Oct 01, 2010

Try to manually install the drivers, I believe you can get the drivers on the website.
    check this website:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.w...

did you uninstall the old river that windows 7 provided before installing the latest on the website? did you download the drivers on the link that I gave you?

I'm getting the selfsame problem with a lenovo 3000 n200 like yours. I think the screen problem has gone away, I had installed the nvidia beta drivers and when I went in and updated the driver, allowing it to find its own, that problem went away. But the frozen mouse pointer problem still persists. Usually, if I boot from scratch, turning on the laptop, it freezes the first time, and succeeds after a restart. Happens with both the generic microsoft drivers and the correct ones for the mouse (not sure what that is since I'm typing this from a different computer).

So many people who have this Model, Lenovo 3000 N200, are having the same problem. I checked in so many forums like :http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-...
I think we have to live with this as there is no fix to this problem.

My lenovo LCD screen is flickering black and striped lines, how to get it fixed in Richmond Hill Ontario

Laptop computers have LCD displays that are sensitive to many things. LCD displays have faults that sometimes produce a flickering screen, lines, dots or a faint display. These screens are sensitive to magnetic fields or electronic items near the computer. Speakers, cell phones, lights and other electrical items are examples. Your display also could be flickering due to software issues such as the video drivers or hardware issues relating to the inverter going bad or the LCD screen itself needing to be replaced. Trace the cause of your problem to come to a resolution.

1.Turn off the computer. Disconnect all external devices. Turn the computer over (bottom facing up). Take out the battery and reseat it. Turn the computer on.
2.Reset your resolution and refresh rate.
Windows XP:
Right click an open area on your desktop. Click "Properties" in the drop-down menu.
Click the "Advanced" button at the bottom of settings tab. Another dialog box appears. Click the "Monitor" tab. Change the Refresh rate to your default, or 60 hertz. Click "OK."
Windows Vista:
Click "Start, Control Panel." Find and click "Appearance and Personalization." Click "Adjust Screen Resolution." Change resolution to the default, or 800 x 600. Click "Advanced Settings." Click the "Monitor" tab. Change the refresh rate to the default, or 60 hertz. Click "OK."
Windows 7:
Click "Start, Control Panel." Find and click "Display" Click "Change display settings" on the left side. Change screen resolution to 800 x 600. Click "Advanced Settings" in the lower right. Click the "Monitor" tab. Change the refresh rate to 60 hertz. Click "OK."
3.Check the computer's surroundings. Move away any speakers, fluorescent lights, fans, cell phones, radios and any other electrical device that can cause flickering. Temporarily move electrical items away from the computer to see if they are producing this issue.
If the flicker stops, put back one item at a time to determine what is causing the problem.
4.Connect an external monitor to your laptop computer to see if that screen is also flickering. If there is no flicker, then the problem is strictly with the laptop, indicating a possible hardware failure. Contact the manufacturer for a replacement LCD.
If the flicker continues, go to next step.
5.Reset/Update your video driver. Click "Start" and right-click "My Computer." Click "Properties." The "System Properties" dialog box will appear.
6.Click "Device Manager." A list of items will appear. Click the (+) sign next to "Display Adapters."
7.Right-click the video adapter and click "Uninstall." Confirm removal. Restart the computer. The video driver will automatically reinstall itself.
8.Check to see if the flicker still exists. If so, go to the manufacturer's website. Download and install the newest video driver and BIOS for the computer.
9.Restart computer once drivers are installed. Continue to the next step if there is still flickering.
10.Open up your display screen all the way. If the flicker stops by opening it a certain distance, it is the display inverter. If the flicker still exists, the LCD screen should be replaced.
11.Contact the manufacturer of the computer for more information and a possible replacement inverter and LCD display. This will depend on the manufacturer and the computer itself.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks

When i format my lenovo laptop i entered the windows 7 activation code and i restarted my laptop suddenly secure and recovery page is on the screen.what shall i do?

Hi wael,

I see that you installed Win7 on your Lenovo but you are getting a recovery page when you got it started up.

It shows that Windows 7 did not install properly or may have encountered an error during the installation of Win7, try reinstalling Windows7 again or just run the recovery on the machine and insert the disc if the system asks for the disc to be inserted cause it may need some files to fix what ever error it may have experienced.

I hope this helps.

Have a nice day

Can not install window xp

Your laptop probably has a SATA hard drive, windows XP only provides with PC's/laptops with a PATA hard drive.

You have to make up your mind what your really want to do.

1) Do you want a dual boot machine, working off XP and Win7?

Here's one web site:-

http://webtrickz.com/how-to-install-windows-xp-over-windows-7-in-a-dual-boot/

2) Do you want to replace Win7 with XP.

Here's a web site which covers that :-

Lenove laptip 3000 n200 driver is not install

all the drivers the laptop requires are on the lenovo website under Support and downloads. make sure you download the correct drivers, launch the downloaded files to extract them in a folder, and then install each one. after all of the installs restart the computer.
note of advice: be carefull with the bios flash upgrade. if you're not an expert, rather don't install it, some of the versions are not really appropriate for the n200 and cause big problems.
