If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Got any step by step instructions on removing and replacing screen for compaq cq60-615dx?

yeah im doing one tonight for a client

very easy mate

you need to prise off the front bezel around the screen, use a very thin flat head screwdriver or butter knive.

take your time try not to damage the plastic bezel, there will be lots of clips holding it in

once that is off

you simply unscrew the screws holding the screen in place

place some kitchen roll on the keyboard and lay the screen on the keyboard

you will see a ribbon cable and a power cable, disconnect them from the screen

buy a replacement screen, search google for the model of your laptop

most screens cost around 65 quid

in total it cost £88.70 for the screen + VAT and delivery

screen came next day

Simple reverse what you did

connect the 2 cables re screw the screen in and then put the bezel back on

bobs ya uncle, simple!

The 261380-001 HD for my EvoN600c is dying. Can I upgrade to a larger capacity drive as long as I stay within the 2.5"/9.5mm size? Can I go to 100 gb?

As far as I am aware you can use a 640Gb drive if you can get one but that is a little too large!
120Gb should be fine.

The swivel screen on my Gateway notebook started getting loose and now no longer stays upright without propping up with something behind it.

What is the model? There are two hinges on each side with plastic molding covering access to the screws that attach the base. gently remove the molding and try tightening the four to eight screws with a small screwdriver. This may fix your problem.

Screen blank

If the backlight stays on then your lcd needs to be replaced. It is a easy job there are a couple of rubber pieces around the bezel which is the plastic around the screen. once you remove those you get to the screws remove those and then carefully take off the bezel. there will be anywhere from 2-4 screws that hold the lcd to the brackets in the side and there might be two at the top. there are two things that you need to unplug a cord at the bottom of lcd which is usually oink and white that is the power. on the back of the lcd is your video its long and flat can't miss it. Reverse steps to put back in.

My Compaq Presario F700 dropped approximately 2 feet to the floor from on top of a suitcase at the airport. It was in a case, but not a thickly padded one. When I tried to use the laptop after the fall,...

Try reseating the hard drive and the RAM modules, the fall may have slightly loosen these components.
The error message "Operating System not found" means the laptop could not find the hard disk, this problem could be the hard drive needs reseating, a faulty hard drive (they don't like being dropped), or a faulty disk controller.
