It has crashed , and i need to do a system restart, all i get is a command prompt, can you help me ?

Try to restore your machine first to an earlier time by doing system restore on safe mode if you cant log in to the normal windows.

1. After restart keep pressing F8 or keep tapping F8 until Advance Boot Menu appear
2. Use arrow key to navigate then choose Safe Mode
3. Click Start button then choose All Programs
4. Click Accessories then choose System Tools
5. Click System Restore then follow the intruction on the window.

Your computer will automatically restart when system restore is finish

If this doesnt work then you need a Windows CD to reinstall you Windows again.

Hope This ill be helpful. Than you for using Fixya.

I think I may have a virus but I'm not sure. When I start-up it says "windows has encountered a critical problem" and then it restarts. But then it keeps restarting over and over and over again. And I cant...

Follow the steps below to restore Windows then run your virus scanning software-
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Turn the computer on and immediately press F8 repeatedly until you get the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
3. use the down arrow to select "Safe Mode" and press enter.
4. Window is should start with a "Help" window.
5. In the help window there is an underlined "What is System Restore?"
Click on that and "Click to open System Restore"
6. click on that and a new window comes up recommending restoring to a previous state.
7. Click ok and the operating system should restore your computer successfully and reboot into normal mode.

Thanks
